Two bottle whiskey for the way
And I sure would like some sweet company
And I'm leaving tomorrow. What d'you say?
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
I've got my ticket for the long way 'round
The one with the prettiest of views
It's got mountains, it's got rivers
It's got sights to give you shivers
But it sure would be prettier with you
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere, oh
You're sure gonna miss me when I'm gone
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
The lyrics to Minipop Kids' song "Cups" are about leaving someone behind to embark on a journey or adventure. The singer has their "ticket for the long way 'round" and "two bottle[s] whiskey for the way," but they long for some "sweet company" as they set out. The singer is leaving tomorrow and wants to know if the person they're addressing wants to come along. The chorus insists that the person will miss the singer when they're gone, citing physical characteristics like their hair, walk, and talk.
The singer's journey is described as having the "prettiest of views" with "mountains" and "rivers" that will give the person shivers. Despite this beauty, the singer wishes that the person they're addressing could join them, making the journey even prettier.
The song emphasizes the emotional weight of leaving someone behind for an adventure. The singer knows that the person will miss them and highlights certain physical attributes as a reminder of their presence. The chorus is repeated frequently, emphasizing the impact of the singer's absence.
