No W
Ministry Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If this is really living
Then why am I so unforgiving
Half the world is down the toilet
Half is on it's way

Well if I had a dollar for
Every time he hollers:
"Trust us with your hearts and minds"
Or I'll make you pay

Trust, trust, trust me
Trust, trust, trust me

Ask me why you're feeling screwed
And I'll give you an answer
There's a Colin, Dick and Bush
Just a hammerin' away

Ask me why you feel deceived
And stripped of all your liberties
It doesn't take a genius
To explain that today

Trust, trust, trust me
Trust, trust, trust me

Overall Meaning

The song "No W" by Ministry is a political commentary on the state of the world during the early 2000s. The lyrics express frustration and anger towards political leaders and their policies that are causing harm to societies across the globe. The opening lines, "If this is really living, why am I so unforgiving," sets a tone of frustration with the current state of affairs.

The lyrics also address the issue of trust and how politicians often claim to have our best interests at heart but end up not fulfilling their promises. When the song says, "Trust us with your hearts and minds, or I'll make you pay," it is a reference to the manipulation and fear tactics employed by politicians to control the masses.

The song further tackles the issues of war and the actions of world leaders such as Colin Powell, Dick Cheney, and George W. Bush. The lyrics say, "Ask me why you're feeling screwed, and I'll give you the answer. There's a Colin, Dick, and Bush just a hammerin' away." The song implies that the actions of these leaders have caused chaos, destruction, and unnecessary loss of human lives.

In conclusion, the lyrics of "No W" by Ministry are a manifestation of frustration towards the government policies that adversely affect society. I hate how this version is not on Spotify. This is gotta be one of the best intros ever.

My god took me forever to remember the song because I remember it from the intro and didn't make the connect with the 'redux' version on Spotify!

@Είμιστι όλ' τσ' Αριστιράς τσ' Προυόδ' κι τσ' 'Ιπρας my dad owns the CD’s. I can’t listen to a CD a work so it would be convenient to have the better version on Spotify. And you do realize they make money from Spotify right? They get paid based on the amount of plays the get.

@Είμιστι όλ' τσ' Αριστιράς τσ' Προυόδ' κι τσ' 'Ιπρας I own the Houses of the Mole CD. This version isn't on it. That's probably also why it isn't on spotify.
Also realistically the amount that Ministry is making from you buying the CD now is probably less than listening to it on Spotify.

Xvacant

I think it’s on Rock against Bush complication as well? I know it doesn’t have the intro on there either with the choir.
