Combining a passion for J.K. Rowling and the wonders of the digitial age, Ministry of Magic presses the genre of wizard rock into a newer, less visited world: wizardtronic. The music of MoM is a tapestry of orchestra, pop, rock, dance, and hip-hop carefully woven to create a full sensory experience for the type of fan attracted to wizard rock: imaginative, discerning, and filled with an appetite for something more than just the middle of the road.
They were signed to Indytronic Records until that label's dissolution. As of 2010, they have released five albums -- four LPs and an EP. The Triwizard Lp (2007), Goodbye Privet Drive (2008), Acoustiatius (EP, 2008), and Onward and Upward were released under Indytronic Records, and their latest offering, Magic is Might (2010), was released independently. In addition, members Mark Jennings and Jason Munday, along with Jeremy Jennings, worked on a side project under the name "Muggle Relations". Their lone EP to date is titled "I Must Not Tell Lies" (2009).
They have collaborated with a few wizard rock artists such as The Remus Lupins, Kristina Horner from The Parselmouths and The Moaning Myrtles. MoM was also featured on 'Jingle Spells' and 'Jingle Spells 2', two charity compilation albums to raise money for Book Aid International.
Evanesco Dobby
Ministry of Magic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He wears a pillow case
and frowns across his face
dreams and hopes of something new
another world he’ll run off to
and someday he’ll go there
(Aaron)
the Malfoy’s slave with bat like ears
(Luke and Aaron)
And I know one day he’ll fly
reaching out he’ll touch the sky
his tiny arms will wave goodbye
Dobby will fly
Dobby will fly
(Jace)
He takes a second look
a sock was in that book
he has been freed, he feels alive
(Jace and Luke)
A new world he’ll soon arrive
Cuz he’s got clothes now
(Aaron and Jace)
He thought that he was stuck
but now he’s going to disappear
(Luke and Aaron)
And I know one day he’ll fly
reaching out he’ll touch the sky
his tiny arms will wave goodbye
(Luke, Aaron, and Jace)
And I know one day he’ll fly (he feels alive)
reaching out he’ll touch the sky (he’ll soon arrive)
his tiny arms will wave goodbye
Dobby will fly
Dobby will fly
The Ministry of Magic's song "Evanesco Dobby" is a tribute to the beloved house-elf character in the Harry Potter series, Dobby. The song tells the story of Dobby's longing for freedom and his eventual escape from the Malfoy family. The first verse describes Dobby's appearance, wearing a pillowcase and looking unhappy. He dreams of escaping to another world, and the chorus repeats the idea that he will one day fly and be free.
The second verse introduces the idea that Dobby is a slave to the Malfoys and has bat-like ears. The third verse is a pivotal moment in Dobby's story, where he discovers a sock in a book and realizes he has been freed. He feels alive and ready to enter a new world. The final chorus repeats the idea that Dobby will fly, reach for the sky, and wave goodbye as he finally escapes.
Overall, the song is a beautiful tribute to Dobby's character and his journey to freedom. It is a reminder of the importance of fighting for what is right, and it champions the idea that one day, we too will fly and soar towards our dreams.
