Except for frontman Willy DeVille, the original members of the band played only on the first two albums ('Cabretta' and 'Return to Magenta'). For the remaining albums and for tours, Willy DeVille assembled musicians to play under the name Mink DeVille. After 1985, when Willy DeVille began recording and touring under his own name (saying that he felt tired of being referred to as 'Mink' after performances), his backup bands were sometimes called 'The Mink DeVille Band,' an allusion to the earlier 'Mink DeVille' group.

Sometimes I feel when I can't go on
It gets so hard to keep holding on
But when you hold me in your arms
Things don't look so dark no more.
If I stumble in the street, you say : 'It's alright and I believe'
In the place where there ain't no good
I put my trust in you and you alone
In the place where there ain't no good
I found an angel, I found an angel
If I feel lost, she's right by me
I found an angel, I found an angel.
There must be someplace that we can go
I can't fight it, it's no good no more
You touched my hand and I realised
I can hold my head up high.
If I stumble in the street, you say : 'It's alright and I believe'
'Cause you're my guardian angel, you're my angel, mmm'.
I found an angel
I found an angel
I found an angel ...
Mink DeVille's song "Guardian Angel" reflects on how finding someone to love can be a saving grace in the midst of tough circumstances. The singer expresses a sense of hopelessness and desperation in the face of difficult times, but finds strength in the arms of their lover. The lyrics convey a deep appreciation for the role that this person plays in their life, acting as a guiding force and a source of comfort. Even when things seem bleak and uncertain, the singer finds solace in their partner's presence, seeing them as a symbol of hope and resilience.
The chorus of the song is particularly powerful, with the repetition of the phrase "you're my guardian angel, you're my angel" driving home the idea that this person is a savior figure in the singer's life. The imagery of stumbling in the street and being lifted up by this angelic figure creates a sense of vulnerability and dependence that underscores the depth of the singer's feelings. Despite the challenges they face, the singer draws strength from their connection to this person, finding inspiration to persevere through even the toughest times.
