Except for frontman Willy DeVille, the original members of the band played only on the first two albums ('Cabretta' and 'Return to Magenta'). For the remaining albums and for tours, Willy DeVille assembled musicians to play under the name Mink DeVille. After 1985, when Willy DeVille began recording and touring under his own name (saying that he felt tired of being referred to as 'Mink' after performances), his backup bands were sometimes called 'The Mink DeVille Band,' an allusion to the earlier 'Mink DeVille' group.
Mixed Up Shook Up Girl

Jumpin' now, paper clip.
Make a move, sail a ship,
Tap it in, tap it in, ruby lips.
She's a mixed up, shook up girl,
Got me so strung out.
I don't know what to do.
Take a breath, in the night.
Hurry over, she said,
But there was no one in sight.
Now break away, is in her eyes.
You know that little girl, she cut me deep,
Inside out.
She's a mixed up, shook up girl,
Got me so strung out.
I don't know what to do.
She's a mixed up, mixed up, shook up girl.
Hey, you, I remember
All the empty streets.
Fill me now.
And though you're gone away,
I know not forever.
Why don't you just come over here and tell me, baby
Is it over now?
She's a mixed up, shook up girl,
Got me so strung out.
I don't know what to do.
She's a mixed up, mixed up, shook up girl.
She's a mixed up, shook up girl,
She's a mixed up, shook up girl.
And she got me so strung out
She's a mixed up, shook up girl
And she got me so strung out
She's a mixed up, shook up girl
The song "Mixed Up Shook Up Girl" by Mink DeVille is an upbeat and rhythmically driven track that tells the story of a complicated romantic relationship. The lyrics suggest the singer's confusion and entanglement with a woman who is described as mixed up and shook up. The first stanza starts off with a description of the physical environment - candlelight and slitted eyes - and builds up to a feeling of excitement and anticipation that is symbolized through the image of jumping up like a paper clip. The second stanza reflects the singer's experience of being let down by the woman, who calls him over but doesn't show up - this leads to a sense of disillusionment and hurt, emphasizing the girl's ability to "cut deep" into his psyche. The last stanza is a plea for reconciliation and closure, with the singer remembering past memories of togetherness and hoping that the girl will come back.
The chorus, "She's a mixed up, shook up girl, got me so strung out, I don't know what to do," is repeated throughout the song, driving home the experience of being caught up in a confusing and unfulfilling relationship.
Overall, the lyrics of "Mixed Up Shook Up Girl" convey a sense of frustration and confusion but are also peppered with moments of excitement and passion. The song's catchy melody and upbeat rhythm stand in contrast to its more melancholic themes, suggesting a sense of longing and unease that permeates the relationship at its core.

Did you see him get HIGH?
Profesional artists like Willie don't get on stage WACKED out.
Idiots like Jim Morrison did and died from.it
Cancer that's what killed him
.Willie and recently Walter Lure 😞
Willie was a incredible artist and wonderful person and artist.I promoted him
never saw him get WACKED out be 4 a show Never saw him screwed up in public My good friend did a European tour with him
A total professional
Just because someone's considered a rocker dosnt mean he- she's a fuk up always high and a junky
There were a few and it was obvious they'd talk about it though despite it this other fool never missed a show
And he was one of the best
Don't assume things you might of read in some CRAP SCANDLE
Also know the guy did often 2 HR shows
That'll wear you and sweat you out night after night
What Willie did in his private life is whatever he chose On stage he was Willie DeVill and still here in NYC I can say Much missed and loved

In my twenties I bought the first two Mink DeVille albums and still have them. Listening to him would evoke early Van Morrison, Springsteen, Southside Johnny in their formative years. And Yes, Willy deserves R&R Hall of Fame recognition! Soul charisma.

Willy was unique among his peers. He is missed and no one could ever replace him in my heart.

In the early 80’s I saw a German TV registration of Willy at Rockpalast and I was flabbergasted how he is living the music. I had to wait until the mid 90’s to see him live in Eindhoven and it was stunning how he plays his music in entire simplicity. No distractions only Willy doing his music.
