The first record, ''Walking Home From Nicole's'', was released one year later with significant help from singer/songwriter Karen Jo Fields.
In November 2001 the band saw the addition of guitarist Jon Arild Stieng and the duo went on tour for the first time in the spring of 2002. Berczelly left the band and concentrated full-time on producing, which he has done for the band ever since.
The band's next album ''If I Told You'', ''You Were Beautiful'' was recorded in Stieng's house in Oslo that same summer, and was released in October. For the upcoming tour of spring 2003 keyboardist Harald Sommerstad joined, and the band was now a trio.
Prior to the Norwegian Quart-festivalen the same year, the band was extended further by drummer Halvor Høgh Winsnes (Fast Winston Doom of Thulsa Doom) and bassist Henrik Widerøe. The band was complete and in the late summer "Up For You & I" was recorded at Sommerstad's cabin near Halden in the south of Norway. The album was released in January 2004, and was an immediate success, boasting 24 weeks on the official Norwegian albums chart, a gold record and numerous price award nominations for best Norwegian pop album of the year.
After the following tour of more than 100 gigs both nationally and abroad (France, Switzerland and Germany), the band spent the greater part of 2005 in Berczelly's studio, and released their fourth album 'Reasons To Hang Around' in January 2006. For it, they were awarded the Norwegian Grammy equivalent Spellemannsprisen.
2007 saw the release of 'Candy Store', a compilation featuring 2 discs, the first one containing a selection of the band's favourites and the second one containing previously unreleased material. After the release of the album, the band embarked on a Norwegian tour in September, followed by tours of Germany, France and Switzerland during the first four months of 2008.
In 2009 the band released 'Either Way I Think You Know'. The music featured on this album has been compared to the works of Tindersticks and Midlake. After touring to promote the album, Minor Majority went on hiatus.
Leader Pål Angelskår decided to focus on his solo career and released 2 albums in 2012 and 2015.
Minor Majority returned with their first album in 10 years in 2019 entitled 'Napkin Poetry'.
It was followed by 'The Universe Would Have to Adjust' in 2021, the band's seventh studio album.

The Dark Half
Minor Majority Lyrics

Show me what you've got
In a couple of minutes
They'll be shutting you up
Everybody will say they're sorry
But don't believe a word
They're giving in to the dark half
That's what I've heard
So, you decided to make it
On your own
Who's to take the blame then
If you loose control
Everybody will say they're sorry
But you can't see why
You're just keeping up track
With the dark half, tonight
And who'll be there to support you
When the shit comes down
You've got to ask yourself now
Do you want them around
Cause everybody's gonna be sorry
When you run dry
And you'll be stuck out here
With the dark half by your side
So, now you're touching
Ground with us
Everyone here's a victim
But you're the boss
And although you're truly sorry
You've got to put on a show
If you talk the talk,
You've got to walk this walk alone
The Dark Half by Minor Majority is a song about the struggle that comes with chasing after one's dreams. The song begins by urging the listener to show what they are capable of as time is running out. The chorus warns of the consequences of giving in to the "dark half," a metaphor for the self-destructive tendencies that can arise when facing obstacles in life. The second verse addresses the risk one faces when trying to achieve success on their own. The third verse poses the question of who will be there to offer support when everything falls apart. It ends on a cynical note, suggesting that one may have to ultimately face their challenges alone.
The song is a commentary on the harsh realities of the music industry, but the lyrics can also be interpreted more widely. They speak to the universal experience of struggling to achieve one's goals, confronting self-destructive tendencies, and the importance of human connection in navigating through difficult times. The music itself is a blend of melancholic and upbeat melodies, giving the impression of a bittersweet journey.

You're running out of time boy
You have very little time left to do what you must
Show me what you've got
Demonstrate the extent of your current ability and talent
In a couple of minutes
You only have a very short period of time to achieve your objective
They'll be shutting you up
They will soon put a stop to your freedom and control
Everybody will say they're sorry
Everyone will apologize to you
But don't believe a word
Don't believe what they're saying
They're giving in to the dark half
They're succumbing to their negative impulses
That's what I've heard
That's the rumor that has been circulating
So, you decided to make it
You've chosen to make it on your own
On your own
Without anyone else's help or involvement
Who's to take the blame
Who will be responsible should things go wrong?
If you lose control
If you lose your grip on the situation
But you can't see why
You don't understand why they would apologize
You're just keeping up track
You are just monitoring and observing their behavior
With the dark half tonight
With their negative impulses revealing themselves tonight
And who'll be there to support you
Who will be there to help you
When the shit comes down
When everything falls apart
You've got to ask yourself now
You need to question yourself right now
Do you want them around
Do you want these people to be around you
Cause everybody's gonna be sorry
Everyone will regret their actions
When you run dry
When you run out of resources
And you'll be stuck out here
And you'll be stranded here
With the dark half by your side
With your negative impulses as your only company
So, now you're touching
You're finally interacting with others
Ground with us
You're on the same level playing field as everyone else
Everyone here's a victim
Everyone here has been impacted by something negative
But you're the boss
You're the one in charge
And although you're truly sorry
And even though you feel genuine remorse
You've got to put on a show
You have to put on a display or pretend for others' benefit
If you talk the talk,
If you talk too much
You've got to walk this walk alone
You must do this on your own
