Kickback
Miracle Of Sound Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In the dead of night
Under the prying eyes
Of the parasites
In the raging gaze of the midnight hives
In the fading haze I will come alive
As a million network nobodies collide
But we won't suffer for nothing
Kick back! We're breaking though the cages
Breakin' through the cages hard
Code crack we're tearing out the pages
Breakin' through the cages hard oh-whoa-oh
Keep running
Keep kicking back!
Keep running
Oh-whoa-oh
Keep running
Keep kicking back!
Keep running
We're asphalt slaves
Move in one motion
We're all just waves
In one big ocean
So take a good hard look at the life we've led
All the abuse you took buried in your head
On the memory of a dying time we ride
But we won't suffer for nothing
Kick back! We're breaking though the cages
Breakin' through the cages hard
Code crack we're tearing out the pages
Breakin' through the cages hard oh-whoa-oh
Keep running
Keep kicking back!
Keep running
Oh-whoa-oh
Keep running
Keep kicking back!
Keep running
We won't be told!
Won't be controlled!
We won't be told!
Won't be controlled!
Yeah
Kick back! We're breaking though the cages
Breakin' through the cages hard
Code crack we're tearing out the pages
Breakin' through the cages hard oh-whoa-oh
Keep running
Keep kicking back!
Keep running
Oh-whoa-oh
Keep running
Keep kicking back!
Keep running
Yeah yeah...
Whoa-oh...
We won't be told!
Won't be controlled!
"Kickback" by Miracle of Sound is a song about rebellion and breaking free from the restrictions and chains that society and the world attempt to put upon us. The lyrics describe the feeling of being trapped and watched by others, particularly those referred to as "parasites" and "network nobodies." This is the feeling of being imprisoned within a system that demands conformity and stifles individuality. The song urges the listener to fight back against these constraints and to refuse to be told what to do or how to live their life.
The song employs metaphors to express the message of resistance. The concept of breakin' through the cages hard implies a more violent approach to freedom, one that takes extreme effort and determination. The lyrics suggest that this struggle will not be easy, nor will it come without pain and opposition. However, the chorus encourages the listener to "keep running" and "keep kicking back," refusing to succumb to the pressures of society.
The song's message is ultimately one of hope and perseverance, urging the listener to break free from the chains that bind them and to forge their own path in life. The goal is to live with authenticity and to resist the temptation to conform to the expectations of others. The song serves as an anthem for the marginalized and oppressed, inspiring them to take control of their lives and make their own way in the world.

In the searing streets
Amidst the scorching roads
In the dead of night
Under the darkness of the night
Under the prying eyes
With the prying gaze
Of the parasites
Of the opportunistic creatures
In the raging gaze of the midnight hives
Amidst the furious eyes of the busy city
In the fading haze I will come alive
In the vanishing mist, I'll come to life
As a million network nobodies collide
When countless, unknown people connect
But we won't suffer for nothing
We won't let our struggles be in vain
Kick back! We're breaking though the cages
Push back! We're liberating ourselves
Breakin' through the cages hard
Breaking away from the restraints with force
Code crack we're tearing out the pages
Cracking codes, we're removing limitations
Keep running
Keep moving forward
Keep kicking back!
Keep resisting the obstacles
We're asphalt slaves
We're restricted by concrete roads
Move in one motion
We're moving with the same purpose
We're all just waves
We're all just part of a greater flow
In one big ocean
In the vast world around us
So take a good hard look at the life we've led
Observe the life we've lived
All the abuse you took buried in your head
The pain and hurt you endured is still within you
On the memory of a dying time we ride
We're traveling on the memories of a time that no longer exists
Won't be controlled!
We won't be manipulated
We won't be told!
We won't be ordered around

Makes me want to play just about any game set in a nighttime city.

any plans to remaster this?

I know it's not a favourite of Gav's, but I'd sell my soul for a remaster of Commander Shepard.
Although, any of the 33 songs from Level One would be amazing. I adore Gav's new stuff, and it shows how far he's come as an artist, standing shoulder to shoulder with the best in the world... but part of me misses the old light-hearted, funny "meme" songs.

You should consider a remastering of some of your old songs like this, Amnesia, and Jet Black Dress. They're some of my favorites of yours but your audio quality has improved so much since they came out. I'd love to hear this without the limitations you had back then.

Seconded

I feel the same as any artist - I like that a lot of people hear my songs, but I prefer that people buy them as I put a lot of work into them (sometimes over 100 hours a song)

I can't stop smiling while watching this video. Not because of the music (though obviously that's absolutely brilliant too), but because you look like you're enjoying yourself so much while you're singing, and seeing someone else happy makes me happy.
