DNA
Miracle of Sound Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There are some places
We should not go
There are some answers
We need not know

Secluded ciphers
They hide away
Down in the strands of
Our DNA

Flesh in a frail hide
I break apart from the inside
Flesh in a frail hide
I break apart from the inside
Flesh in a frail hide
I break apart from the inside
Flesh in a frail hide
I break apart from the inside

Flesh in a frail hide (There is creation)
I break apart from the inside (in decay)
Flesh in a frail hide
I break apart from the inside
Flesh in a frail hide (It tears apart)
I break apart from the inside (My DNA)
Flesh in a frail hide
I break apart from the inside

Flesh in a frail hide (There is creation)
I break apart from the inside (in decay)
Flesh in a frail hide
I break apart from the inside
Flesh in a frail hide (It tears apart)
I break apart from the inside (My DNA)
Flesh in a frail hide
I break apart from the inside

Wild waves of mystery
They sweep and sway

Down in the strands of
Our DNA

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "DNA" by Miracle of Sound speak of the mysteries and secrets that are hidden deep inside the human DNA. The singer warns of places and answers that should not be explored or known, and mentions "secluded ciphers" that hide away in the strands of DNA. He describes the fragility of the human body, with the flesh being a "frail hide" that breaks apart from the inside. The wild waves of mystery that sweep and sway in the DNA serve as a metaphor for the unknown and uncontrollable aspects of life.

This song is ultimately about the unfathomable nature of existence, and the inevitability of decay and death. The lyrics suggest that humans are not meant to know everything, and that some things should remain a mystery. The song is both beautiful and haunting, with its ethereal melodies and melancholy tone.

This one of my l;east popular songs ever, but funny enough it's still one of my own favourites. I'm proud of it and still wouldn't change a note in it because for me, it makes my ears happy :)

I hope you do one for Alien Covenant too!

Wade Spencer

I actually really like this one.

Hariti Khatri

It's one of my favorites too Gav! Some of your best work is when you go beyond what's popular and experiment.

The Living Gamer

Perhaps a song on either Alien Isolation or one of the original 4 Alien movies?

Márton Csepregi

I love it too :)

I always get a little sad when I play the whole MoS playlist. The first songs have several million views, while the last ones don't even have one hundred thousand, but they are all great
BTW, it takes me 2 days to listen to all the songs since I listen to them at my job (which is in a shop, so yes I play Miracle of Sound for the public, I think I got him a few subscribers this way :P )

Adam Sandler

I liked this song when it first came out but eventually forgot about it, but in 2020 I noticed that every 3 months or so it gets stuck in my head for seemingly no reason and I just have to keep coming back to it. It's really been 10 years since I started listening to Gav, damn.

I think what most people have to realize is that the music you create is meant to "capture" the feel or overall story of the subject matter. For Prometheus, this song, like almost all your other work, was brilliant. The tones, subtle nuances, and blend of styles reflects the movie very well. Don't worry Gav, I got your back! Lol

Mega-Buster Shepard

This film had two very powerful scenes to me. The one being shown here where Adam is holding the holographic image of earth, staring at it with childlike curiosity and wonder. Reminded me of humanity's inner curious nature, staring up at the stars and asking why are we here. The second one is when the main character grabs the crucifix that her father gave her. The android confused as to why she would do this after finding out humanity was made purely to be some alien's lab rats.

Adam: Why after all you've learned do you still believe?

Character: Because I choose to.

Very powerful scene, great way to close a movie.
