Joker's Song
Miracle of Sound Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Grinning down through the gates
Watch the night suffocate
All the light as it smothers the sun
I can tell by the moon
You'll be joining me soon
As a guest in my fortress of fun!

And I can't wait to see you
And once again free you
Released from your humorless air
Someday I will replace
That big frown on your face
With a smile and a murderous glare

We are two of a kind
Violent, unsound of mind
You're the yin to my yang, can't you see?
And if I were to leave
You would grumble and grieve
Face it, Bats, you'd be lost without me

You'd be lost (You'd be lost)
You'd be lost (You'd be lost)
Face it, Bats, you'd be lost without me!

I'm just trying to show you
Just how well I know you
I understand just how you feel
Threw your reason away
'Cause you had one bad day
And your mind let go of the wheel

Still we're fated to battle
You pout and I prattle
Don't you ever tire of this game?
But you'll not make it end
'Cause I'm your only friend
We are opposites but we're the same

We are two of a kind
Violent, unsound of mind
You're the yin to my yang, can't you see?
And if I were to leave
You would grumble and grieve
Face it, Bats, you'd be lost without me!

You'd be lost (You'd be lost)
You'd be lost (You'd be lost)
Face it, Bats, you'd be lost without me!

We have so many wonderful stories
I have studied the mind of this bat
A hero with no praise or glory
Just his cape and his cave and his...
Meow

AAHHHAHAHAHOOOOHOHOHHAHAH!

We are two of a kind
Violent, unsound of mind
You're the yin to my yang, can't you see?
And if I were to leave
You would grumble and grieve
Face it, Bats, you'd be lost without me!

You'd be lost (You'd be lost)

You'd be lost (You'd be lost)
Face it, Bats, you'd be lost without me!

Overall Meaning

The song "Joker's Song" by Miracle Of Sound ft. Malukah delves into the twisted thoughts of the Joker as he sings about his obsession with Batman. The lyrics depict the Joker as someone who is eagerly waiting for Batman, with the darkness of the night being a support to his plans, as he prepares for their next battle. The Joker is confident of his power and is convinced that Batman needs him just as much as he needs Batman. The Joker sees Batman as his opposite but also as someone who is kindred to him, being violent and unsound of mind alike. He believes that without him, Batman would be lost and incomplete.

The Joker's obsession with Batman is evident throughout the song. He refers to the times they have spent together and how he has studied Batman's mind intimately. He believes that they share a special bond that no one else understands - they are like yin and yang - two opposites who complement each other. Though the Joker is insane, he believes that he is the only one who truly understands Batman and that he is the dynamic element that Batman needs to truly shine.

Overall, the song is a dark but fascinating take on the relationship between the Joker and Batman. It portrays the Joker as someone who is obsessed with Batman, almost in love with him, and who is convinced that he is the key to Batman's success. The Joker sees himself as someone who is just as important as Batman - they are two sides of the same coin. The song is sure to intrigue and capture the imagination of both Batman and Joker fans.

The entire song is pure goodness, but this part:

"I'm just trying to show you, just how well I know you.

I understand just how you feel: Throw your reason away 'cause you had one bad day.

And your mind let go of the wheel!

Still, we're fated to battle! You pout and I prattle!

Don't you ever tire of this game?

But you not make it end, 'cause I'm your only friend!

We are opposites, but we're the same!"

Really describes their relationship to a T. I can't help but sing-a-long every time.

@Alex-fu4md

If Batman were in the song:

We are nothing alike,
You're just sick in the mind,
You're just chaos for the sake of itself!
And if you were to leave,
I would jump up in glee,
Face it, Clown!
You'd be naught without me

Spoiler for Arkham Knight to follow.

I'm not kidding

When the Joker serenaded Batman in Arkham Knight, I was really disappointed they hadn't licensed this beautiful song. (Not massively surprised, as they would have to acknowledge someone else's brilliance, but disappointed nonetheless.)

@henriquepacheco7473

+Voidtalon Gaming I had something quite like that... Ended up writing a whole batman version of the song.

Here's it:

Chasing you down in the shade
Not to leave your crimes unpaid
With my soul lost in this rain
And prowling under the moon
I know I'll be joining you soon
In your hell of madness and pain.

And I’d like to avoid you
And never again see you And from your madness be spared
But now there’s no escape
I must wipe out from your face
Your smile and your murderous glare

We are not the same kind
You’re sick, twisted in the mind
You're the end to my wit, can't you see?
And if you were to leave
I would rejoice and feast
Face it, clown...
I'd be best were you to leave!

I'd be best (I'd be best)
I’d be best (I’d be best)
Face it, clown...
I'd be best were you to leave!

I’m just trying to stop you
‘Cause your sickness drives you
I wish I could know why
You threw your reason away
And gave us all many bad days
And your mind for sure is wry

This is why we're fated to battle
While you never stop your prattle
I am sick of playing your game
But you'll never make it end
For you think we’re friends
You’re blind and think we’re the same

We are not the same kind
You’re sick, twisted in the mind
You're the end to my wit, can't you see?
And if you were to leave
I would rejoice and feast
Face it, clown...
I'd be best were you to leave!

I'd be best (I'd be best)
I’d be best (I’d be best)
Face it, clown...
I'd be best were you to leave!

We had so many haunting stories
Yeat I was not ready for the last
Being a hero with no villain gets hoary
How much I miss your smiles and taunts and...

LAUGHS!!! AAHHHAHAHAHOOOOHOHOHHAHAH!

We were two of a kind
Violent, unsound of mind
And all of this, only now I see
And I barely believe I miss you
And I can’t believe I grieve
I’ll face it, clown...
I am lost without you!

I am lost (I am lost)
I am lost (I am lost)
I’ll face it, clown...
I am lost without you!

Well, he isn't singing, but we can look forward to him playing the Joker soon in "The Killing Joke". Unless it's out already and I didn't know.

This is one of the things I enjoy about the Joker as a villain. He's the kind of person who would actually employ backing vocals to mock someone if he thought it was entertaining enough, especially given his excessively colorful demeanor versus Batman's stoic noir tones.

@JMandJJ7797

I wish in a new or upcoming Batman animated series The Joker would burst into song and sing this. Voiced by Troy Baker. And at one point in the song he takes Batman (who is tied up) up and starts dancing with him.

It ain’t nobody reading that 😂
