All Kinds of Kinds
Miranda Lambert Lyrics
Ilsa was an acrobat who went and fell in love with that
Horatio the human cannonball
A wedding 'neath the big top tent with barkers clowns and elephants
Sideshow family oddities and all
The dog-faced boy howled out with joy
As the tattooed lady was crying
Ever since the beginning to keep the world spinning
It takes all kinds of kinds
And dresses that he wore on Friday nights
Phyllis was a pharmacist, a dab of that, a pinch of this
Concocted to suppress her appetite
When the children were fiddlin' she'd slip 'em some Ritalin
And wait for Thomasina to arrive
Cause ever since the beginning to keep the world spinning
It takes all kinds of kinds, all kinds of kinds
When I play this old guitar from children's shows to smoky bars
I take a break and think about the past
When I stood up in geometry and everybody stared at me
And I tossed my test into the trash
I scratched off my number while hitching out under
That bush league population sign
Ever since the beginning to keep the world spinning
It takes all kinds of kinds
Now some point the finger, let ignorance linger
If they'd look in the mirror they'd find
That ever since the beginning to keep the world spinning
It takes all kinds of kinds
All kinds of kinds
All kinds of kinds

Both of her parents are private investigators, but father Rick is also a country guitarist and songwriter. Lambert became seriously interested in country music after attending a Garth Brooks concert as a young girl, and soon began singing in talent contests under the tutelage of her father.
At 16, Miranda began appearing on the Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington, Texas, the same show that helped launch the career of LeAnn Rimes. Miranda quickly landed a recording session in Nashville, but left the studio in tears after she became frustrated with the "pop" sound of music that was not her own. Upon returning to Texas, Miranda began writing songs and taking guitar lessons from her father.
When Miranda's aptitude for music became apparent, her parents encouraged her to aggressively pursue singing and acting opportunities. While still a high school student, Miranda made her professional singing debut and fronted the house band at the Reo Palm Isle Ballroom in Longview, Texas, a long-running venue that has showcased Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson.
Foregoing college, Miranda performed throughout Texas in 2001 and 2002. She finished first in the Texas auditions for Nashville Star and eventually placed third on the national competition.

Why is this song so underrated? The tune, the lyrics - just perfect!

Bcuz ACM don't want a woman with ideas that aren't stuck in 1950. They don't want THE REAL DEAL. They want unrealistic BS
G DL
X Zxxx I say that same thing but apparently that was why it didn’t receive a lot of airtime
Dana Adams
What would be offensive about truth. People please

@G DL wait what... I know like 2 companies run the radios but wtf is offensive
G DL
I know I’m very late but this song got very little radio play because of what they considered “controversial and offensive lyrics” figure that one out.

This song has a way of touching my heart. We need more tolerance and acceptance in our society of differences. We need to understand that this world works BECAUSE we are different and not all the same. Yes, it may cause conflicts, but think of the learning opportunities!
Corey Klaustermeier
Exactly. People often criticize others for not being exactly like them but if everyone thought and acted the exact same way many of us would be dead because we wouldn’t have 95% of the medicines and technologies we have today.
