Both of her parents are private investigators, but father Rick is also a country guitarist and songwriter. Lambert became seriously interested in country music after attending a Garth Brooks concert as a young girl, and soon began singing in talent contests under the tutelage of her father.
At 16, Miranda began appearing on the Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington, Texas, the same show that helped launch the career of LeAnn Rimes. Miranda quickly landed a recording session in Nashville, but left the studio in tears after she became frustrated with the "pop" sound of music that was not her own. Upon returning to Texas, Miranda began writing songs and taking guitar lessons from her father.
When Miranda's aptitude for music became apparent, her parents encouraged her to aggressively pursue singing and acting opportunities. While still a high school student, Miranda made her professional singing debut and fronted the house band at the Reo Palm Isle Ballroom in Longview, Texas, a long-running venue that has showcased Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson.
Foregoing college, Miranda performed throughout Texas in 2001 and 2002. She finished first in the Texas auditions for Nashville Star and eventually placed third on the national competition.

I turn pages all the time
Don't like where I'm at, 34 was bad
So I just turn to 35
Yeah, I'm a keeper
I keep digging down for the deep
Like the records I'm playing
But you know I'm gonna play 'em for keeps
And if the house just keeps on winning
I got a wildcard up my sleeve
And if love keeps giving me lemons
I'll just mix 'em in my drink
And if the whole wide world stops singing
And all the stars go dark
I'll keep a light on in my soul
Keep a bluebird in my heart
Well, I'm a giver
Yeah, and I'm still giving 'em hell
Forgiving's pretty hard
So I made an art out of forgettin' 'em well
Yeah, I'm a rhymer
I can turn twenty cents into a ten
And if I get confused, and I start to lose
I rhyme a dime 'til it all makes sense
And if the house just keeps on winning
I got a wildcard up my sleeve
And if love keeps giving me lemons
I'll just mix 'em in my drink
And if the whole wide world stops singing
And all the stars go dark
I turn the light on in my soul
And keep a bluebird in my heart
Ooh, ooh
And if the house just keeps on winning
I got a wildcard up my sleeve
And if love starts giving me lemons
Just mix 'em in my drink
And if the whole wide world stops singing
And all the stars go dark
I'll keep the light on in my soul
Keep a bluebird in my heart
I'll keep a light on in my soul
Keep a bluebird in my heart
Keep a bluebird in my heart
Ooh
And the bluebird sings
Ooh
The song "Bluebird" by Miranda Lambert is a moving ballad that talks about resilience, hope, and determination. The song starts with the lyrics "Yeah, I'm a turner, I turn pages all the time, Don't like where I'm at, 34 was bad, So I just turn to 35". This stanza emphasizes the singer's willingness to turn pages in her life, move on, and embrace the future despite the challenges she has faced. She is not afraid of change and is always looking for the next adventure or opportunity.
In the second stanza, Lambert talks about her determination to dig deeper and never stop searching for the truth. She compares herself to the records she's playing that might keep you waiting, but in the end, she is going to play them for keeps. This shows her commitment to achieving her goals and never giving up on them. She also highlights her ability to make the best out of every situation, even when life gives her lemons, she will mix them in her drink and keep going. In the chorus, the song talks about how the singer will always keep a light on in her soul, even when the whole world has stopped singing, and all the stars have gone dark. She will keep a bluebird in her heart, a symbol of hope and renewal, to keep moving forward.
Overall, the song "Bluebird" is a powerful reminder that life may be hard, but resilience and determination can help us get through it. The lyrics are an expression of hope, positivity, and unwavering strength.
