Both of her parents are private investigators, but father Rick is also a country guitarist and songwriter. Lambert became seriously interested in country music after attending a Garth Brooks concert as a young girl, and soon began singing in talent contests under the tutelage of her father.
At 16, Miranda began appearing on the Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington, Texas, the same show that helped launch the career of LeAnn Rimes. Miranda quickly landed a recording session in Nashville, but left the studio in tears after she became frustrated with the "pop" sound of music that was not her own. Upon returning to Texas, Miranda began writing songs and taking guitar lessons from her father.
When Miranda's aptitude for music became apparent, her parents encouraged her to aggressively pursue singing and acting opportunities. While still a high school student, Miranda made her professional singing debut and fronted the house band at the Reo Palm Isle Ballroom in Longview, Texas, a long-running venue that has showcased Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson.
Foregoing college, Miranda performed throughout Texas in 2001 and 2002. She finished first in the Texas auditions for Nashville Star and eventually placed third on the national competition.

Fire Escape
Miranda Lambert Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Lit up like a pair of Woodstock hippies
Lookin' down on a town where it don't seem wrong
To be a bonfire blaze where it don't belong
Meet me on the fire escape
Meet me on the fire escape
Don't let me wait
I wanna start up this flame
Meet me on the fire escape
Meet me on the fire escape
When the building's burning
Baby, we're to blame
Mm
Downtown bar band's meltin' off the brick walls
Half pint lovers rollin' out with their last calls
The streetlights down on Lafayette
Ain't seen nothin' like you and me yet
Oh, meet me on the fire escape
Meet me on the fire escape
Don't let me wait
I wanna start up this flame
Meet me on the fire escape
Meet me on the fire escape
When the building's burning
Baby, we're to blame
Baby, we're to blame
We'll smoke like a couple in the 1960s
Up all night like New York City
Oh, meet me on the fire escape
Meet me on the fire escape
Don't let me wait
I wanna start up this flame
Meet me on the fire escape
Meet me on the fire escape
When the building's burning
Baby, we're to blame
Mm, mm, mm
In Miranda Lambert's song Fire Escape, the singer invites someone to join her on the fire escape to escape the mundanity of everyday life and feel alive. The lyrics describe the two of them smoking and feeling like a couple from the 1960s, reminiscent of the hippie era and the freedom it represented, as they overlook a town where it doesn't seem wrong to be different. They are unapologetically themselves, creating a bonfire blaze where it doesn't belong, which is a metaphor for living life on their own terms and not conforming to societal norms.
The chorus repeatedly pleads with the person to "meet me on the fire escape" and not make the singer wait any longer. There is a sense of urgency and longing conveyed through the repeated lines, "I wanna start up this flame." The building burning and them taking the blame suggests that their love is passionate and dangerous, and they are willing to risk everything for it.
Overall, Fire Escape is a song about living in the moment, breaking free from the constraints of society, and embracing love and passion. It is a reminder that life is short, and we should make the most of it, even if it means stepping out of our comfort zones.

MIRANDA LAMBERT (2019) – FIRE ESCAPE (Traducción)
We'll smoke like a couple in the 1960s
Fumaremos como una pareja en la década de los 60
Lit up like a pair of Woodstock hippies
Colocados como un par de hippys de Woodstock
Lookin' down on a town where it don't seem wrong
Vislumbrando una ciudad donde no parece estar mal
To be a bonfire blaze where it don't belong
Ser el resplandor de un hoguera donde no se encaja (¿?)
Meet me on the fire escape
Reúnete conmigo en la escalera de incendios
Meet me on the fire escape
Don't let me wait
No me hagas esperar
I wanna start up this flame
Quiero prender esta llama
Meet me on the fire escape
Reúnete conmigo en la escalera de incendios
Meet me on the fire escape
Reúnete conmigo en la escalera de incendios
When the building's burning
Cuando el edificio esté ardiendo
Baby, we're to blame
Cariño, la culpa será nuestra
Mmm
Downtown bar band's bouncing off the brick walls
La banda de un bar del centro reberverando en las paredes de ladrillo
Half pint lovers rollin' out with their last calls
Amantes de la media pinta de cerveza largándose con el último aviso
The street lights down on Lafayette
Las farolas a lo largo de Lafayette
Ain't seen nothin' like you and me yet
Aún no se ha visto nada como tú y yo
Oh‚ meet me on the fire escape
Oh, reúnete conmigo en la escalera de incendios
Meet me on the fire escape
Don't let me wait
No me hagas esperar
I wanna start up this flame
Quiero prender esta llama
Meet me on the fire escape
Reúnete conmigo en la escalera de incendios
Meet me on the fire escape
Reúnete conmigo en la escalera de incendios
