Both of her parents are private investigators, but father Rick is also a country guitarist and songwriter. Lambert became seriously interested in country music after attending a Garth Brooks concert as a young girl, and soon began singing in talent contests under the tutelage of her father.
At 16, Miranda began appearing on the Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington, Texas, the same show that helped launch the career of LeAnn Rimes. Miranda quickly landed a recording session in Nashville, but left the studio in tears after she became frustrated with the "pop" sound of music that was not her own. Upon returning to Texas, Miranda began writing songs and taking guitar lessons from her father.
When Miranda's aptitude for music became apparent, her parents encouraged her to aggressively pursue singing and acting opportunities. While still a high school student, Miranda made her professional singing debut and fronted the house band at the Reo Palm Isle Ballroom in Longview, Texas, a long-running venue that has showcased Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson.
Foregoing college, Miranda performed throughout Texas in 2001 and 2002. She finished first in the Texas auditions for Nashville Star and eventually placed third on the national competition.

Smokin' and Drinkin'
Miranda Lambert Lyrics

It was one of those fires that burned all night and made your blue jeans smell like smoke
Hanging with friends, going again start upbringing, smokin' and drinkin'
It was one of those girls and one of those guys who didn't know quite what to do
We were going along with what was going on saying I think I love you
And I think about us now every time that I go out, smokin' and drinkin'
Smokin' and drinkin' on the weekend like we did back in the day
So here's to all those nights all we felt was life, smokin' and drinkin'
We be lighting up saying this town sucks so we painted on the bridge
We were young in love to not know enough that those were the days that we were going to miss
But damn we know it now 'cause that's all we talk about, smokin' and drinkin'
Smokin' and drinkin' on the weekend like we did back in the day
Smokin' and drinkin' got cha thinkin about the one that got away
So here's to all those nights all we felt was life, smokin' and drinkin'
Smokin' and drinkin' on the weekend like we did back in the day
Smokin' and drinkin' got cha thinkin about the one that got away
So here's to all those nights all we felt was life, smokin' and drinkin'
Smokin' and drinkin' on the weekend like we did back in the day
Smokin' and drinkin' got cha thinkin about the one that got away
So here's to all those nights all we felt was life, smokin' and drinkin'
Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah
Smokin' and drinkin'
Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah
Smokin' and drinkin'
In Miranda Lambert's song Smokin' and Drinkin', the lyrics reminisce about the good old days of youth, when there were no worries, and the only things to do were to smoke and drink. The song creates imagery of youthful follies such as painting on the bridge or burning fires all night. The lyrics also depict the complexity of young love through lines such as "We were going along with what was going on saying I think I love you" and how the experiences of young love and rebellion are the things that we miss now.
The song's lyrics convey a sense of nostalgia as the singer looks back at her youth fondly and misses the simple life she used to lead. The song also reminds the listener that the past is an essential part of our lives, and one should cherish and celebrate it, for it shapes who we are today. Overall, the song is a tribute to the carefree, wild nature of youth and how the memories of those days are forever etched in our hearts.

I myself love country music, I miss the old country music, but I have grown to like the 2015 version of country music. I'm glad you actually gave it a shot. many people won't give 2015 country music a change. growing up in Nashville, country music is all I know and I love it all types.
