I used to see the delicate, beautiful things in life.

But now they only block the sun
Now I see clouds as an obstacle that gets in the way of things I want or need.

Now I see clouds as something that can bring troubles or sadness to anyone.

So many things I would have done
My view of clouds as obstacles has kept me from doing things I wanted to do.

But clouds got in my way
Clouds have become something that keeps me from achieving my dreams.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
I've had different perspectives on clouds over time.

From up and down, and still somehow
I've seen them from different angles and yet they still have the same effect on me.

It's cloud illusions I recall
I remember the way I used to see clouds as beautiful illusions.

I really don't know clouds at all
Now I realize that my perspective on clouds was limited and I didn't understand them fully.

Moons and junes and ferris wheels
I used to see joy and wonder in everything around me, like romantic movies or amusement park rides.

The dizzy dancing way you feel
I used to feel dizzy and excited with joy at the simplest things.

As ev'ry fairy tale comes real
I used to believe that everything would work out for the best, just like in fairy tales.

I've looked at love that way
I used to see love as pure and magical.

But now it's just another show
Now I see love as something that is often artificial or fake.

You leave 'em laughing when you go
When love fails, all you can do is laugh and try to move on.

And if you care, don't let them know
When you love someone, you hide your true feelings so you don't get hurt.

Don't give yourself away
Don't let other people see the real you, because that's when you're most vulnerable.

Tears and fears and feeling proud
I used to feel emotions strongly and wasn't afraid to show them.

To say "i love you" right out loud
I used to express my love and affection openly.

Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I used to have big dreams and plans, and saw the world as a place full of wonder and excitement.

I've looked at life that way
I used to see life as full of possibilities and adventures.

But now old friends are acting strange
Now that I'm older, my friends and other people around me have changed and don't see things the way I do.

They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Others see me differently now, and don't understand why I don't see things the same way as before.

Well something's lost, but something's gained
I have lost some of my idealism, but have gained new experiences and wisdom.

In living ev'ry day
Every day is full of new opportunities and challenges, and I continue to learn and grow.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
Despite changing perspectives on life, some things remain constant and help me navigate difficult times.

From up and down, and still somehow
No matter where I am in my journey, I can always see clouds from multiple angles and get a new perspective on things.

It's cloud illusions I recall
Those memories of seeing the beauty in clouds stay with me, and remind me of the hope and wonder that still exists in the world.

I really don't know clouds at all
Despite thinking I knew everything as a young person, I now realize that I don't have everything figured out and still have much to learn.
