Perfect Day
Miriam Stockley Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The rain has moved on
And left a new day
Nothing seems to move everything is still
It's just a perfect day

The shadows and light
That move with the wind
Hidden violets grow splashed with summer spray
Just another perfect day

On the wild and misty hillside
Fear is nature's warning
Hunger here is never far away

And all of this world
Is for children who play

Days that never end always should remain
Another perfect day

Overall Meaning

In Miriam Stockley's song Perfect Day, the artist paints a picture of a peaceful and serene day. The lyrics describe the aftermath of a rainstorm, as the rain moves on and a new day emerges. Everything seems to be still and immobile, creating the perfect ambiance for relaxation and quiet reflection. The shadows and light that accompany the wind add a beautiful touch to the scenery, and hidden violets are able to grow due to the summer spray. It truly is a perfect day.

The second verse of the song takes us to the wild and misty hillside, where danger is always lurking in the form of hunger and natural fears. However, the world remains beautiful and perfect, with the days filled with play for all children. The implication is that even in the face of danger and uncertainty, life remains beautiful and worth celebrating. The song is capable of evoking feelings of tranquility, hope, and nostalgia, all at once.

I’m a 22 year old dude who cries every time I hear this. Reminds me of being 5 years old watching the TV series at my grandparents house

Man the nolstalgia. I was super young when I watched the show. I don't really have too many memories of my early childhood at all. Less than most people seem to have however I have never forgotten this song. So beautiful.

Seriously, thumbs up for anyone and everyone who looked for this song because of  childhood memories of Beatrix Potter stories. :)

I actually just started to try to teach myself how to play this on Piano too,(by ear!!!) so I'm really excited.
