That's Just Not Me by Mis-Teeq is a song about a woman who is confident in herself and her boundaries. The lyrics suggest that she is not willing to compromise her values or desires for anyone else. The opening lines introduce Babysham, who implies that the listeners are in for a treat by hearing these women. The next lines suggest that many men would love to have one of these women by the end of the week, which sets the stage for the rest of the lyrics. The women take control by stating that they won't be swayed by someone trying to win them over by using their bed as a bargaining chip. They talk about the way they can tell that someone wants them, and describe the things they are not interested in, like expensive cars and jewelry. The chorus reinforces the message that staying true to oneself is important and that trying to impress someone isn't worth sacrificing one's own values.
The song encourages individuality and self-worth, and it does so in a fun and upbeat way. The lyrics are empowering and convey a strong message about setting boundaries and being selective about who you surround yourself with. The song also challenges common societal expectations when it comes to status symbols and shows that they aren't necessarily what people should be striving for. Mis-Teeq allows the listener to feel confident and secure in who they are and what they believe in.
