I don't like how the pianists tempo is inconsistent in the first bars already, but the dynamic design HE chose was really really elaborate and beautiful

I agree. I find Maisky's style of playing most of Bach's suites has always been much too flowery as well as emotional, sometimes good, sometimes inappropriate and usually ending up with too much self-induced variations and tempo, which I find annoying, especially when the pianist got lost in the latter part! Impromptu performing with accompaniment is not appropriate, IMO.

This a perfect example of the difference between an accompanist and pianist

Accompanist is far too loud , and lacks sensitivity. I think she's a really 2nd or 3rd rate accompanist.

Tuve el privilegio de escuchar directamente. Misha en una presentaciĂłn en la Ciudad de MĂ©xico. Admirable. (Juve Flores desde MĂ©xico). Aplausos.

Look for Maisky's Max Bruch: Kol Nidrei, Op.47. With a full chamber orchestra, his cello dominates and you can really appreciate Mischa's grandeur a the top cellist of today.

I'm not sure if my previous comment went through, but in case it did not, the pianist is Lily Maisky, Mischa's daughter and with his son Sascha (violin) they are the Maisky Trio. I said in my earlier comment that, in this piece in particular, the piano seems to overshadow the cello. This was a piece for cello not piano....

Those last measure of Elegie is among my most favorite to play and listen of others intepretations.

Mish'as genuine Montagne cello sounds amazing. A really big cello, compared to say an Amati or Gofrillo.

People in the comments saying "the cellist" like this isn't Maisky an actual classical legend haha
