The quintet started on a long process of recording a series of demos, with an EP recorded in Fishguard in late 2001. Another demo EP followed in 2002 and then the Wanna Be Never Be EP was recorded with Jeff and Ginge at Nottin' Pill Studio in Newport.
A single was recorded and released on Hardflipp Records in 2003, assisting their process of attracting gigs and fans. But they suffered a setback when original vocalist and bassist Chris left.
He was replaced in 2006 by singer Kim Waterson and new bassist Dai. "We just want to make a living from our music," says Kim.
"Yes, we want a record deal and all that comes with it, but if not we'll just keep making and playing our style of punk rock. Well, it beats getting a real job."
In late 2006, that desire came to fruition with a deal from Visible Noise, the label responsible for the success of both Lostprophets and Bullet For My Valentine.
Their debut mini-album, Sinner Vs Sinned, was released in March 2007.
In September that year, Waterson announced her departure from the band, saying, "It's only recently that I've had to reassess my life, what I want personally and what I can physically do all at once."
In October 2007 the band employed the services of Hereford singer Emma Jane to replace Kim. Demos and rehearsals were under way by November 2007.
Devotion
Miss Conduct Lyrics

Until I bask in the emotion
The presence of my
Devotion
That I want out
Or my heart could explode
Into passion
There's something about how you know
Something I doubt you would ever find out
Even if I told you
There's something about what you say
Something I doubt you would ever find out
Even if I showed you
Can't take my eyes
Your eyes
I could stand here and scream
That I want out
Or my heart could explode
Into passion
There's something about how you know
Something I doubt you would ever find out
Even if I told you
There's something about what you say
Something I doubt you would ever find out
Even if I showed you
The lyrics to Miss Conduct's song "Devotion" speak to the undeniable power of a strong emotional connection. The singer expresses her need to feed her addiction, to bask in the heightened emotion and presence of her devotion. She vacillates between feeling trapped and wanting out, and being overcome with intense passion. The singer acknowledges that there is something unique about the connection she shares with her devotion - something that cannot be easily explained or shared with others. The lines "There's something about how you know" and "There's something about what you say" suggest that the special bond between the singer and her subject goes beyond words and rational understanding.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of emotional complexity and intensity, with the singer seeming almost trapped by her devotion. The repetition of the lines "I could stand here and scream/That I want out/Or my heart could explode/Into passion" highlights this emotional dichotomy, as if the singer is torn between the desire to escape and the excitement of surrendering to her emotion.
