Elliott is one of the first female hip hop superstars, known for a long series of hits including "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)", "Hit 'Em Wit Da Hee", "Get Ur Freak On", "One Minute Man", "Work It", and "Lose Control". In addition she has received recognition as one of the most successful songwriters of the modern music era, having crafted a number of hit records for artists such as Aaliyah, 702, Total, Ciara, Nicole Wray and Tweet, often with production-partner and childhood friend Timbaland. She was the third female rapper to ever go Platinum, behind Lil' Kim and Da Brat.
Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, she began her career in the all-girl R&B group, Sista in 1993. Eventually, the band folded and Elliott began her career as a solo rapper. Since the early 1990's, Elliott has won six Grammys, recently scoring one for her video of "Lose Control."
Other releases are 'Teary Eyed' and 'We Run This', and the last of these two songs will be the main single of the new greatest hits album titled 'Respect M.E.: Best Of' featuring 17 tracks from her six albums.

Uh, it's the Q to the, B to the, double E, spittin' lovely
And it don't stop, rocks shine through my tank top
Where your bank stop, I deposit all the one drops (ha)
Think not, excuse me but uh I like to flow
'Cause this joint knocks harder then Indica and
I be off the wall like the Lox, night box filled with Benjamins
Makin' all you other rappers begin again, like Fennigan
Christians repent, then sin again, girls wanna be my friend again
Lay up in my crib up wit', get up in my linens and
While misdemeanor hit notes like Sarafinna, I subpeona you
To my funk grooves, see, I hit you wit' the huh
She wit' ya with the hee
It wasn't your car that had me all in love with you (you)
'Cause I've got my own ride and a trunk full of tunes, yeah (tunes)
I drive through your hood

Missy Elliott's song "Hit 'Em Wit Da Hee" is a track about her confidence, success, and independence in the music industry. In the first verse, Missy brags about her lyrical prowess and reputation as a successful artist. She's "spittin' lovely" and "rocks shine through [her] tank top." She also boasts about her financial success, "Where your bank stop, I deposit all the one drops." She challenges anyone who doubts her abilities to flow, claiming that her "joint knocks harder than Indica." Missy's flow in this song is confident and assertive, as she proclaims her status as a successful artist.
The chorus of the song focuses on Missy's independence. She doesn't need a man's car or money to be happy. She has her own ride and a trunk full of tunes. She also has her own account with a "large amount" of bills. Missy doesn't need a man to take care of her financially, and she's proud of it. The chorus ends with Missy inviting listeners to meet her at the bar to celebrate their independence.
In the second verse, Missy raps about being noticed by others in the industry. She's confident in her ability to roll a blunt and attract men. She claims that "niggas love [her] style too much" and that she and Timbaland are "takin' over blocks." The song ends with a repeat of the chorus and Missy inviting listeners to join her at the bar.
