Mixtapes Lyrics

I'm just tired, and stressed over back in the day
she said don't you ever miss those days?
I just miss those records shops, and the nights I got to stay, it's ok
It's what i need
don't forget me
you fall in love, too easily
I surrender, this feeling of regret
cause i really think i'd rather look ahead and just forget
I'm just full of problems that make you feel alone
And you know i like to talk, but i'll just take the long way home
It's not hard to remind yourself why you tried
this open road and a song to sit by your side
I'm just scared of the doubt
but i wont let it last, yeah i'll forget about that
It's what i need
don't forget me
you fall in love, too easily
So i'll just forget the world
The lyrics of "Maps" by Mixtapes speak of the struggles of getting older and moving on from the past. The opening lines portray the difficulties of articulating feelings and emotions to others, but the singer assures us that this is okay. The next few lines suggest that the stress that the singer is feeling comes from their past and reminiscing about it. However, they admit that they miss specific things, like going to record shops and how they spent their nights.
The chorus follows, and it echoes a common sentiment we all feel when we're growing up: the need to distance ourselves from the world around us. The singer is aware that he has a habit of falling in love too easily, so he decides to forget the world and move on from it. It's a song about surrendering, accepting the inevitability of change, and overcoming feelings of doubt and regret.
Overall, "Maps" is a personal, introspective song that deals with common themes we all face as we get older. The past, present, and future meet in the lyrics, and it speaks to anyone who has ever had a hard time letting go of the past or embracing the future.
