Damn, It took me 20 years to get the meaning of this song. I haven't seen the video in almost that long. But now with the video and song together, i see the point of the song as looking back on ones life and remembering the good and bad. Only the things that I myself can understand. He's not actually singing the song. He sampled the hook. And put a dope beat to it. There's a really good story behind the creation of this album. I heard it on a podcast recently. Something about him being broke and sleeping on friends couches at the time. And a friend lends him a box set of cds with a bunch of old southern songs. He ended up sampling a bunch of those songs and created the album that made him famous.
