Sunday
Moby Lyrics

Dark cloud has come into the way
Sunday was a bright day yesterday
Dark cloud has come into the way
Sunday was a bright day yesterday
Dark cloud has come into the way
Sunday was a bright day yesterday
Dark cloud has come into the way
They sing to the darkest night
Long before
They sing to the darkest night
Long before
Why can't I face it?
Am I too blind to see?
Why did he go?
Why did he leave me?
Sunday was a bright day yesterday
Dark cloud has come into the way
Sunday was a bright day yesterday
Dark cloud has come into the way
Ooh
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
Ooh
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
Why can't I face it?
Am I too blind to see?
Why did he go?
Why did he leave me?
Why can't I face it?
Am I too blind to see?
Why did he go?
Why did he leave me?
Sunday was a bright day yesterday
Dark cloud has come into the way
Sunday was a bright day yesterday
Dark cloud has come into the way
Ooh
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
Ooh
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
Ooh
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
Ooh
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
The lyrics of the song "Sunday" by Moby seem to be describing the contrast between the past and present. The first line establishes the idea that Sunday used to be a bright day, but now a dark cloud has come and obstructed the light. The repetition of these lines throughout the song emphasizes the stark change the singer is experiencing - something bright and positive has become dark and negative. The second part of the song seems to be an inner monologue of the singer, questioning why they can't face what has happened and wondering why the person they cared for left them. The repetition of these questions may suggest that the singer is unable to come to terms with the situation and is feeling lost.
The most interesting aspect of this song is that it is largely instrumental, with very minimal lyrics. This emphasizes the repetitive, almost meditative nature of the song, and allows the listener to focus on the music and the emotions it evokes. Additionally, Moby has stated that the song was heavily influenced by the rave scene of his youth, and that it was meant to evoke a feeling of transcendence and ecstasy.

When I first saw the video for "In This World," I was so touched by the plight of the little aliens. I was aware of this song but just know discovered there was a video, a sequel to "In This World." I'm so glad the little aliens were finally noticed, even if they decided a life of fame wasn't for them in the end.
