Very
Moby Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You would never make it
Inside, oh inside
Love you won't be alone
Inside, oh inside

Pain
It's cold out there
So come inside
So come inside

Pain
It's warm in here
So come inside
So come inside

How we will make it
Just you, you and me
Soon we'll take it
Just you, you and me

Pain
It's cold out there
So come inside
So come inside

Pain
Yeah
Pain
Yeah

Pain
It's cold out there
So come inside
So come inside

Pain
It's cold out there
So come inside
So come inside

Pain
It's warm in here
So come inside
So come inside

Pain
It's cold out there

So come inside
So come inside

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Moby's "Very" are reflective of someone who is experiencing pain and is trying to find refuge from it. The repetition of "pain" throughout the song emphasizes the intensity of the feeling, and the idea that it is all-consuming. The lyrics suggest that the person experiencing pain cannot make it on their own, and needs someone else to help them through it. The repeated phrases "you won't be alone" and "just you and me" imply comfort and support from someone who cares.

The line "inside, oh inside" also emphasizes the idea of seeking internal relief. The repetition of this phrase indicates that the singer is trying to turn inward and find a way to deal with the pain in a more private and personal way. The contrast between the coldness of the outside world and the warmth that is offered inside adds to the sense of comfort and safety that the song is trying to convey.

Overall, the lyrics of "Very" suggest that pain is a difficult and isolating experience, but that there is hope for relief and comfort from someone who cares.

Every time I listen to this song, I feel like all my troubles melt away or seem not as bad. I would love to see this song blasted at a party.

Wow...someone finally put this song up...I've loved this song since I heard it on a plane trip to China back in the summer of 06, and I've been looking for a video of it since then....it's such a beautiful song and will always remind me of that plane ride (which was a pleasant one) not to mention the smiling face waiting for me at the Beijing Airport.

Finally! I first heard this song a few years ago on Moby's MySpace page. (I followed his blog posts.) The vocalist on this is the lovely Laura Dawn. I'd forgotten all about it until it spontaneously popped into my head the other day, and I decided I wanted it on my playlist. :) Thanks for posting it!
