We Are All Made of Stars
Moby (Tiesto vs Pushpaka edit) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Growing in numbers
Growing in speed
Can't fight the future
Can't fight what I see

People they come together
People they fall apart
No one can stop us now
'Cause we are all made of stars

Efforts of lovers
Left in my mind
I sing in the reaches
We'll see what we find

People they come together
People they fall apart
No one can stop us now
'Cause we are all made of stars

People they come together
People they fall apart
No one can stop us now
'Cause we are all made of stars

Slow slow slow, come come
Someone come come come
Even love is goin' 'round
You can't ignore what is goin' 'round

Slowly rebuilding
I feel it in me
Growing in numbers
Growing in peace

People they come together
People they fall apart
No one can stop us now
'Cause we are all made of stars

People they come together
People they fall apart
No one can stop us now
'Cause we are all made of stars

People they come together
(People they come together)
People they fall apart
(People they fall apart)
No one can stop us now
(No one can stop us now)
'Cause we are all made of stars
(We are all made of stars)

'Cause we are all made of stars
People they come together
'Cause we are all made of stars
(People they fall apart)
'Cause we are all made of stars
(No one can stop us now)

'Cause we are all made of stars
(We are all made of stars)

Overall Meaning

The song "We Are All Made of Stars" by Moby (Tiesto vs Pushpaka edit) speaks about the interconnectedness of human existence and how no one can fight the inevitable changes that come with life. The lyrics suggest that humanity is perpetually evolving, growing and changing both in numbers and speed, and that the future cannot be fought or resisted. Despite the uncertain path ahead, the song suggests that people are bound together by a commonality: they are all made of stars - an allusion to the scientific fact that the atoms in our bodies come from stardust.

The lyrics also speak of the power of love, which appears to be a force that drives the singer to move forward in life. Although its effects may not always be lasting, the singer seems to hold out hope for its enduring power to connect people. The idea of rebuilding and growing in numbers and peace also reiterates the idea that despite the ups and downs of life, evolution and growth to a better version of self-sustains. Ultimately the song progresses towards a message of hope, that no matter the impermanence - people will still come together and fall apart but "no one can stop us now".

I was in a really low place inside my head in 2002. I had a choice, let my anger spill over or turn that energy into something positive.

This song was a huge part of me choosing the latter.

It has since all worked out for the best.

I hope that if you're reading this while listening to this song, you find the same path.

Thanks Moby!

This was always me and my dad's song. He was fighting terminal cancer but died at home on Friday. At the end, when he was non-responsive and we couldn't find words to fill the space, each of us kids sang him a song and this was the song I sang to him. He really loved music and I have beautiful memories of driving around with my dad in the TJ, looking at ocean, blaring this song.
