Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Moby feat. Laura Dawn's song "Feeling So Real" are straightforward and repetitive, reflecting the euphoric and almost hypnotic energy of the music. The song begins with the lyric "Some system rockin'" repeated seven times, possibly referring to a sound system or a musical "system" that is producing a lively beat. The singer then urges the DJ to "set it up," indicating that they want the music to be turned up or intensified.

The main theme of the song is the intense feeling of reality and aliveness that comes with being immersed in dance music. The repeated refrain of "I'm feeling so real" emphasizes this feeling, suggesting that the music has the power to transport the singer to a higher state of awareness. The lyrics "Take me away" also reinforce this sense of being swept up in the music, and the repeated shout of "Oh oh" adds to the overall ecstatic tone.

While the lyrics might seem simple and repetitive on the surface, they effectively convey the energy and emotion of the experience of dancing to electronic music. The song is a celebration of the power of music to transcend the mundane and mundane and connect us to something greater.

That's me at the 6 second mark (plaid shirt, hat backwards and various points in the video dancing). I was 20 years old and the world was mine to conquer. It felt like anything was possible. I just found this video after so many years. We had a great time that night and Moby was so cool he even granted me an interview after the shoot for a little rave zine I used to contribute to.

Wauw i love this so much .

I would have preferred if a 17 year old was stripped and violated on stage instead of those nice synths getting destroyed. This was in NYC where 17 is an adult and is therefore considered acceptable. Do you know why Moby didn't do this instead?

@Meg_n_

That's so cool

@Kimberly_11

Can you tell me if that's Moby dressed up as a female with the brunette wig and dress on!? Its driving me crazy trying to figure this out 😂

Only people who grew up with this music in the 90's are knowing how it feels to be free. And there Is something in our harts that misses the atmosphere that you cannot find nowadays in this world. We only can summon this special feeling by listening to our beloved music from that time. So there is a kind of special feeling we share from the 90's that no one from another generation will ever understand.

You're right, I can't experiment that feeling in other way
