Modenine & Nnena Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

feel so good to tell it all
they were man and wife, but he hardly slept with her
out late with his friends, hurting his liver
she's 9 month's pregnant, crying a river
alone at home, bout to deliver

Overall Meaning

Modenine and Nnena's "Cry" is a powerful song that evokes emotions in listeners with its poignant and relatable lyrics. The song deals with the complex theme of infidelity and its devastating consequences. The first line of the song, "Feel so good to tell it all," sets the tone for the rest of the song. It's as if the singer has been holding in a secret and feels relieved to finally let it out.

As the song progresses, we learn that the singer is discussing a married couple. The husband is not faithful to his wife and is often out late with his friends, drinking and hurting his liver. Meanwhile, the wife is heavily pregnant and is left crying alone at home. The heartbreaking image of a woman about to deliver a baby, in tears and without the support of her partner, is a powerful one.

The lyrics capture the pain and desperation of the situation perfectly. It's clear that the wife is suffering, both physically and emotionally, and the husband's infidelity has only added to her distress. The song is a reflection of the harsh realities of relationships and the damage that can be caused by infidelity.

While I was in Uniport in 2010, staying back of Chem in Choba and later moved to D' Address at Aluu. I had room mates that were clans men. The second verse in this song kept me straight.

Apart from the up bringing from my parents, this song made me avoid cultism and other social vices.

Mode9 - CRY

This song sends cold blood running down my spine, till date, it sends cold shivers down my body.

As a tradition, I'll play this song to my son when it's time.

They don't make songs like this anymore

All he needed was two verses. This record should be in the hall of fame, used to coach folks. I watch modenine's live sessions to take wisdom out, feels like its a class he'd always have something to say!

First heared this song just after leaving high school in 2007. Unfortunately some kids didn't learn from this song, got initiated into cultism and today they are long gone. This is June 2023 I am just wondering if young boys and girls will ever abstain from cultism and violence.
