They began playing in the mid-nineties in Mexico City, as a parody of the glamorous style of many 80's bands like Poison and Mötley Crüe; it began as a side project to the members' original bands, but eventually became quite popular among members of the Mexican alternative scene. With the coming to the mainstream of many underground interests, they became widely popular.
They launched their mainstream debut CD, Resurrección in 2001. This album re-awakened the Mexican feeling for wannabe Pop Rock, and quickly gained popularity with their first single "Márchate Ya" and the later "Isabel". In November 2004 they launched Detector de Metal, whose first single Muriendo Lento featuring female pop singer Belinda, was a huge hit that gave Moderatto massive appeal. Since the launch of Detector de Metal, the band has been giving huge concerts that have been completely sold out in Mexico's most important arenas, like the Auditorio Nacional and Teatro Metropolitan.
Moderatto released a new album at the end 2006 titled ¡GRRRR!. The first single off of ¡GRRRR! is Sentimettal, which in 3 weeks climbed all the way to #3 in the Mexican Top 40.
Despite perceiving themselves as metal, members of the band have received the criticism of some metal fans who said than the band is more pop rock.
Following Sentimettal, Moderatto released their next single, Si Mi Delito Es Rockear (Me Declaro Culpable).
On 2008 the Queremos Rock comes out, it includes 8 songs written by them and 2 covers.
Carisma their last studio album, was released in October 2012. With singles Entrégate and Gracias being a success.

Bienvenidos

Hijos del rock n' roll
Los saludan los aliados
De la noche.
Bienvenidos al concierto,
Gracias por estar aquí
Nuestro impulso nos hará
Ayudanos a conectar
Solo por ti
El rock existira
Necesitamos
Muchas manos
Pero un solo corazon
Para poder intentar el exorcismo
La vinuestras mentes
Llenadas con un soplo de rock
Que desaloja los fantasmas cotidianos
Ayudanos
A construir el rock
De moderatto se hace para ti
A los hijos del rock n' roll
Bienvenidos
Que tal ha sido la marcha
Compañeros de fatigas
Desde los tipos de rocko
20 años de camino
Para al fin poder gritar
A los hijos del rock n' roll
Bienvenidos
The song "Bienvenidos" by Moderatto begins with a greeting to those who are the children of rock n' roll. The band introduces themselves as the allies of the night who welcome the audience to their concert. Moderatto expresses gratitude towards the audience for their attendance and tells them that the band's passion for music will transform them into electric beings. They invite the audience to connect with them, and if they do so, rock n' roll will exist forever.
The lyrics then explain that the band needs the help of the audience to make the concert unforgettable. They ask for many hands to work together to make it successful. They emphasize that though everyone has different backgrounds, they all have the same heart, which will make their music unbeatable. The lyrics also suggest that their music can serve as an exorcism that can remove the daily stressors from the minds of the audience, and replace them with a blast of rock.
The overall theme of this song is the love for rock n' roll music and how it's an immense force that has the capability to unite generations. Moderatto is grateful to have reached twenty years in the music industry and is excited to continue making rock music for their fans.
