Everything about this song is Perfect. Rafi Sahab's voice as usual is heavenly. The lyrics by Shailendra Ji have deep meaning. The acting by Dev Anand Sahab and Waheeda Ji (especially Waheeda ji) is out of this world. At the beginning of the song, Rosie is reluctant and hesitant to accept Raju's love but by the end of the song, she has overcome her misgivings.
And the music by S. D. Burman touches the soul.
There are 3 interludes in this song. By interludes I mean portions of the song that have no vocals but only instrumental music.
Such was the genius of S.D Burman, that each of the 3 interludes in this song is unique in its own way and completely different from the other two
The first Interlude from 0.36 seconds to 0.49 seconds uses Violin and Tabla
The second Interlude from 1.40 seconds to 1.57 seconds uses saxophone, violin and santoor
The third Interlude from 2.48 seconds to 3.04 seconds uses Violin and Tabla

The story of the movie was written by my granduncle Mr RK Narayan. My father went to Bombay with his uncle RKN to receive the Filmfare trophy for the best film in 1966. A great story wonderfully brought on canvas by Vijay Anand and Dev Anand. The songs added to the glory. Proud !

Are you RK Lakshman’s grandson?

Rafi sahab ne kaha tha, "Muzhko mere baad zamana dhundega" Bilkul sahi kaha tha, miss you Rafi sahab❤
@MrPolyestrine
Another line from that song "Dil ka Suna saaz" was "वक़्त मेरे गीतों खज़ाना ढूंढेगा". Which is also fitting as Rafi passed away few years later

Shot in single shot...one camera take of entire song. Amazing !!
@edwinrozario5973
When I read your comment I had to check if it was a single shot it's not there are 2 cuts in each stanza and last 2 stanza was shot in 1 shot.
Still an incredible talent from the direction and actors
