1) a Canadian alternative rock band,
2) a Swedish electronic pop project,
3) an Indonesian shoegaze band, and
4) an Australian industrial duo.
1) Moist is a five-piece Canadian alternative rock band that was popular in the mid-to-late-1990s. The band is led by singer David Usher. Other members of the band are Mark Makoway (guitars), Francis Fillion (drums), Louis Lalancette (bass), Jonathan Gallivan (guitars) and Kevin Young (keyboards). Former members include Jeff Pearce (bass) and Paul Wilcox (drums).
Moist formed in the early 1990s and eventually released an independent cassette in 1993. The cassette caught the attention of EMI, who released their first full-length studio CD, Silver, in 1994. Producer Terry Brown (Rush, Blue Rodeo) was brought in to work on a few of the band's songs, and the album went on to sell 400,000 copies in Canada on the strength of hard-hitting singles like Push, Silver and Believe Me. The follow up, Creature, was released in 1996 to even greater success, with the band's sound maturing and fostering its softer side. A final studio album titled Mercedes 5 and Dime was released in 1999 which was softer and more melancholic than previous releases.
Moist have called off their indefinite hiatus as of September 2013, and released their new single "Mechanical" on May 23rd, 2014.

Dogs
Moist Lyrics

At Mercedes five and dime
Now I'm slipping out the back door
And I'm feeling alright
Found the bosses gold Camero
Think I'll take it for a ride
Cross the world to California
Where i know she's waiting
She picks me up like I've never been down before
And its hard to think you got the best of me yet
I can't believe while these dogs are at the
Door honey
You came to take apart what's left of me
120 down the freeway
About a thousand miles to go
Cross the border to resida
Outskirts on the avenue
can't escape the operator
California here I come
Groves are passing by the way
And I know its waiting
She picks me up like I've never been down before
And its hard to think you got the best of me yet
I can't believe while these dogs are at the
Door honey
You came to take apart what's left of me
Pileup on the Berkshire turnstile
About a thousand miles to go
There the feelin' faded quickly
Madonnas on the radio
Packed a lunch of tea and orange
Think I'll take it for a ride
Cross the world to California
Where I know she's waiting
She picks me up like I've never been down before
And its hard to think you got the best of me yet
I can't believe while these dogs are at the
Door honey
You came to take apart what's left of me
The song "Dogs" by Moist presents a story about a man who is going through a hard time and decides to leave his current situation behind in search of a better future with the woman he loves. He packs his lunch and steals his boss's car before heading out on a long journey from his hometown to California, where he knows the woman he loves is waiting. As he drives down the freeway, passing groves on the way, he sings about how she picks him up like nothing he's ever experienced before, giving him a new perspective on life. Despite the dogs at the door, which could be a metaphor for the problems he's facing holding him back, he's determined to make a better life for himself. The song presents a sense of hope and determination, an optimistic outlook on what's to come.
