1) a Canadian alternative rock band,
2) a Swedish electronic pop project,
3) an Indonesian shoegaze band, and
4) an Australian industrial duo.
1) Moist is a five-piece Canadian alternative rock band that was popular in the mid-to-late-1990s. The band is led by singer David Usher. Other members of the band are Mark Makoway (guitars), Francis Fillion (drums), Louis Lalancette (bass), Jonathan Gallivan (guitars) and Kevin Young (keyboards). Former members include Jeff Pearce (bass) and Paul Wilcox (drums).
Moist formed in the early 1990s and eventually released an independent cassette in 1993. The cassette caught the attention of EMI, who released their first full-length studio CD, Silver, in 1994. Producer Terry Brown (Rush, Blue Rodeo) was brought in to work on a few of the band's songs, and the album went on to sell 400,000 copies in Canada on the strength of hard-hitting singles like Push, Silver and Believe Me. The follow up, Creature, was released in 1996 to even greater success, with the band's sound maturing and fostering its softer side. A final studio album titled Mercedes 5 and Dime was released in 1999 which was softer and more melancholic than previous releases.
Moist have called off their indefinite hiatus as of September 2013, and released their new single "Mechanical" on May 23rd, 2014.

Far Beyond the Endless
Moist Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Another time, another place holds me
Everything is withering around me
But deep inside of me the changes come closing in
I know
Somewhere in the shadows, I find a way
Far beyond the endless, memories will stay
Somewhere in the shadows, fading away
The stillness found within the sound of morning
Is all I need to carry on dreaming
The things you said your words are slowly dying
And when the night is gone and morning comes
You'll be gone
And I know
Somewhere in the shadows, I find a way
Leading through the fields of night
Far beyond the endless, memories will stay
Somewhere in the shadows, fading fading away
(fade away, far beyond, away)
(far beyond the endless, memories will stay)
(somewhere in the shadows, fading)
Somewhere in the shadows, I find a way
Leading through the fields of night
Far beyond the endless, memories will stay
Somewhere in the shadows, fading away
The lyrics of Moist's song "Far Beyond the Endless" convey a sense of longing and escape from the turmoil of reality. The singer finds solace in closing their eyes and drifting away, seeking refuge in another time and place. They acknowledge the decay and withering of everything around them, but amidst these changes, they feel a profound transformation happening within themselves.
The song suggests that in the shadows, there is a path to be found. It leads the singer through the fields of night, offering a sense of direction and purpose. The idea of being far beyond the endless implies that the memories created within this alternate reality will remain etched in the singer's mind, even as they fade away. They yearn for the stillness and peacefulness that comes with the sound of morning, as it allows them to carry on dreaming.
However, there is a bittersweet element to the lyrics as well. The singer acknowledges the ephemeral nature of the things said by someone important to them, as those words slowly die. They anticipate that when the night is over and morning arrives, that person will be gone.
Overall, "Far Beyond the Endless" explores themes of escapism, longing, and the transient nature of time and memories. It suggests that in the shadows and dreams, one can find solace and a sense of purpose, even though those moments may eventually fade away.
