1) a Canadi… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least four acts that have used the name Moist:
1) a Canadian alternative rock band,
2) a Swedish electronic pop project,
3) an Indonesian shoegaze band, and
4) an Australian industrial duo.
1) Moist is a five-piece Canadian alternative rock band that was popular in the mid-to-late-1990s. The band is led by singer David Usher. Other members of the band are Mark Makoway (guitars), Francis Fillion (drums), Louis Lalancette (bass), Jonathan Gallivan (guitars) and Kevin Young (keyboards). Former members include Jeff Pearce (bass) and Paul Wilcox (drums).
Moist formed in the early 1990s and eventually released an independent cassette in 1993. The cassette caught the attention of EMI, who released their first full-length studio CD, Silver, in 1994. Producer Terry Brown (Rush, Blue Rodeo) was brought in to work on a few of the band's songs, and the album went on to sell 400,000 copies in Canada on the strength of hard-hitting singles like Push, Silver and Believe Me. The follow up, Creature, was released in 1996 to even greater success, with the band's sound maturing and fostering its softer side. A final studio album titled Mercedes 5 and Dime was released in 1999 which was softer and more melancholic than previous releases.
Moist have called off their indefinite hiatus as of September 2013, and released their new single "Mechanical" on May 23rd, 2014.
2) After a life-long love affair with music, songwriter and producer, David Elfström Lilja, began releasing his own music under the name Moist in 2008. In Moist, he began his dream project, in which he writes, produces and play most instruments. His sound can be found on numerous remixes and in collaborations with different vocal artists such as Maria Marcus, Sophie Rimheden and Kana Otsubo. His most recent work with hits like "On And On" and "Release Me" by Agnes, are enjoying heavy rotation on European radio stations. He just finished the single, “Far Beyond The Endless,” with Maria Marcus and writing and producing a track with the Japanese singer and keyboardist, Kana Otsubo, of Spangle Call Lilli Line, which will appear on Moist’s album due at the end 2009, early 2010.

Gasoline
Moist Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My fabulous to suck so close your eyes I'll cut you inside
And tell me did I hurt you hurt you your machine will die
And tell me what I've wasted tell me
Gasoline is in my head
I'm turning on
Gasoline is in my head
Gasoline is in my head
I'm turning on
I'm turning on
And tell if it kills you quietly the world is waiting
Bringing on its own arrival something tries to burn you inside
And tell me what I've taken taken my machine has died
Nothing's ever waiting tell me
Gasoline is in my head
I'm turning on
Gasoline is in my head
Ohouwo-oh
And gasoline is in my head
I'm turning on
I'm turning on
These hands have broken
Hard pressed on everyone
My words can't open you alone you alone
Gasoline is in my head
I'm turning on
And gasoline is in my head
Ohouwo-oh
And gasoline is my head
I'm turning on
I'm turning on
Moist's song "Gasoline" is a brooding and darkly atmospheric track exploring themes of toxicity and self-destruction. The opening lines "Did I hurt you all wash of waters broken, My fabulous to suck so close your eyes I'll cut you inside" suggest that the singer may have caused harm to someone, and is grappling with feelings of guilt and remorse. The lines "And tell me did I hurt you hurt you your machine will die, And tell me what I've wasted tell me" suggest a desire to make amends and understand the damage that has been caused.
The chorus, "Gasoline is in my head, I'm turning on" suggests a self-destructive impulse and a reliance on substances like gasoline to get by. The repetition of this line throughout the song emphasizes this theme, and creates an increasingly urgent tone as the song progresses.
The final lines "These hands have broken, Hard pressed on everyone, My words can't open you alone you alone" suggest a sense of isolation and despair, as the singer reflects on their inability to connect with others.
Overall, "Gasoline" is a haunting and complex song that deals with themes of guilt, addiction, and isolation.

I would like description of the meaning behind this from David Usher himself. To myself the gasoline represents the blockages in our mind, for example our fears. Maybe, he is saying we need to let go of our fears and have faith.
