Come Together
Mojo Filters Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here come old flat top
He come groovin' up slowly
He got joo joo eyeballs
He one holy rollers
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker
He just do what he please
He wear no shoeshine
He got toe jam football
He got monkey finger
He shoot Coca Cola
He say I know you, you know me
One thing I can tell you is
You got to be free
Come together, right now
Over me

He bad production
He got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard
He one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knees
Hold you in his armchair
You can feel his disease
Come together, right now
Over me

He roller coaster
He got early warning
He got muddy water
He one Mojo filter
He say one and one and one is three
Got to be good looking
Cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now
Over me

Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah

Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah

Overall Meaning

Mojo Filters’ “Come Together” is an upbeat rock song that was inspired by Timothy Leary’s campaign for governor of California in 1969. The song opens with a description of “old flat top” who has “joo joo eyeballs” and “hair down to his knee.” This is likely a reference to a particular individual who was part of Leary’s inner circle. The song’s lyrics describe the individual as someone who is carefree and does what he wants. He is someone who is not constrained by societal norms or expectations.

The next verse describes this person’s idiosyncrasies such as his “toe jam football” and “monkey finger.” It is unclear what these phrases mean exactly, but they add to the surreal and fantastical nature of the song. The individual in the song is characterized as someone who knows the singer and the singer knows him, and the message is that to truly be free, you must come together with others.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase “come together, right now, over me” several times. This calls for unity and emphasizes the importance of finding connection with others. The song’s bridge describes this person as a “roller coaster” who has “early warning” and is a “Mojo filter.” The song ends with several repetitions of “come together, yeah” which serves as a reminder of the song’s primary message of unity and connecting with others.

Love the way at 0:57 Paul McCartney is grooving along to the song. Total music legends all in one studio along with cool celebrities! I would have killed to be there that day! 😊

I do love that he isn't trying to copy John's singing. Instead he does he own style.. That's how cover songs should be. They should be an interpretation of the song by the performancing artist.. Not a note per note copy of the original.

That's why I always love covers that sound almost nothing like the original. It's like you get a fresh perspective into a beloved song.

Can anyone recommend any cover songs like that? thank you. 👍

He does this song again. It's on Spotify from the album Studio 150. It's another good version.

For a few more covers of Beatles/Beatles members check out Joe Cocker's version of With A Little Help From My Friends, probably the greatest cover version of all time, The Jeff Healey Band's version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Casey James' version of Jealous Guy.

Also check out the versions of Bob Dylan's All Along The Watchtower by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Bear McCreary. Both very different to Bob's and very different to each other.

Man, this was in 1995, this must have been the best day ever for Noel Gallagher. He'd only been in the business for a couple of years and then this shit happens for him!!!

Romchikthelemon

He could disband Oasis after that.
