Since their beginning in April 2001, Mombojó has been collecting important experiences for the actual work of the band. In 2002 Mombojó was in one of the most important festivals in Brazil, and received great reviews from the press for their concert in the 10th Abril Pro Rock.
In 2003, the band was benefited by Pernambuco's government to record their first Album: Nadadenovo. Recorded and mixed in Recife by Igor Medeiros and Mad Mud (Leo D & William P), and mastered in São Paulo (Classic Master), the album soon got public and media attention. Nadadenovo has fifteen tracks with many local folk influences, local instruments and electronic samples.
On July 6th, 2007 Rafael (aka "O Rafa"), 24 years old, the trombone and flute player, who was always by the side of Marcelo Campello, passed away from a heart attack.

The lyrics to Mombojó's song Adelaide depict a narrator who is trying to woo a romantic interest. The singer describes what it means to them to offer themselves to this person, saying that all they have to give is their love. However, before they can fully express their love, they need to know if their romantic interest will reciprocate their feelings. The singer then lets their emotions speak for themselves, promising to show that they can be a better person and that the romantic interest won't regret giving them a chance. They end the song on a reassuring note, promising not to make their romantic interest cry over them.
The sentiment of the song is a common theme in love songs, but what sets it apart is the specificity of the lyrics. The singer uses the phrase "o que eu entendo por ser meu" (what I understand by being mine), which adds a layer of personal significance to their declaration of love. Additionally, the repetition of phrases like "vou mostrar que sou alguém melhor" (I will show that I am a better person) and "não vai se arrepender" (you won't regret it) reinforces the singer's determination to prove their worthiness as a partner.
