Since their beginning in April 2001, Mombojó has been collecting important experiences for the actual work of the band. In 2002 Mombojó was in one of the most important festivals in Brazil, and received great reviews from the press for their concert in the 10th Abril Pro Rock.
In 2003, the band was benefited by Pernambuco's government to record their first Album: Nadadenovo. Recorded and mixed in Recife by Igor Medeiros and Mad Mud (Leo D & William P), and mastered in São Paulo (Classic Master), the album soon got public and media attention. Nadadenovo has fifteen tracks with many local folk influences, local instruments and electronic samples.
On July 6th, 2007 Rafael (aka "O Rafa"), 24 years old, the trombone and flute player, who was always by the side of Marcelo Campello, passed away from a heart attack.

The lyrics of Mombojó's song "Container" convey a sense of disillusionment and resignation towards the world. The opening lines suggest that the lights and applause are enough to deceive those who want to be deceived, and there is no reason to be proud of such deception. The line "letting go of the ground is being able to fly" suggests that one needs to detach oneself from reality to be able to cope with the world's disillusionment. However, the singer acknowledges that letting go of his hand won't help the situation.
The next few lines suggest a feeling of helplessness, where shutting down a bleeding wound and crying is of no use. The singer has resigned to his fate and is urging the others not to worry about him, as his enemies will always have their place in the world. The final line repeating that the anger will return suggests that although the singer has resigned himself to the world, he is still not at peace with it.
