Since their beginning in April 2001, Mombojó has been collecting important experiences for the actual work of the band. In 2002 Mombojó was in one of the most important festivals in Brazil, and received great reviews from the press for their concert in the 10th Abril Pro Rock.
In 2003, the band was benefited by Pernambuco's government to record their first Album: Nadadenovo. Recorded and mixed in Recife by Igor Medeiros and Mad Mud (Leo D & William P), and mastered in São Paulo (Classic Master), the album soon got public and media attention. Nadadenovo has fifteen tracks with many local folk influences, local instruments and electronic samples.
On July 6th, 2007 Rafael (aka "O Rafa"), 24 years old, the trombone and flute player, who was always by the side of Marcelo Campello, passed away from a heart attack.

Eu preciso sair daqui
Eu preciso parar de mentir
Eu preciso salvar o mundo

Estou ficando cego pra poder guiar
Tô te explicando pra te confundir
Tô te confundindo pra esclarescer
Que estou iluminando pra poder cegar
E estou ficando cego pra poder guiar
The song "Realismo Convincente" by Mombojó is a reflection on the human desire to escape reality and become someone else. The repeated phrase "Eu quero ser você" (I want to be you) serves as a metaphor for this desire, as the singer longs to leave behind their own problems and inhabit someone else's life. The following verses highlight the singer's frustration with their current situation and their desire for change. They want to stop lying to themselves and save the world, even if it means not gaining anything from it.
The chorus "Eu vou tentar" (I'll try) speaks to the singer's determination to make a change, even if it seems difficult or unlikely to succeed. The next verse takes a turn and becomes more abstract, with the singer stating that they are confusing the listener in order to clarify their point. They are shedding light on an issue that may be difficult to see, even if it means blinding themselves in the process. The final line, "Estou ficando cego pra poder guiar" (I'm becoming blind in order to guide), sums up the song's message: sometimes we need to lose sight of ourselves to find a way forward.
