Mona Lisa Lyrics

On my own
You said you'd never leave me
All alone
You said you'd never leave me
On my own
(1)
Never should have gave my heart
Should've never let you in my life
Gave my heart and soul and mind
And I
Never thought that we'd be this way
Should've never started to believe things you said
How could you not communicate
With me
()
(2)
And if I
Ever thought our love would end
Somehow I thought we could be friends
You left with my heart to mend
Now I see
You took what I gave
And in my heart I know because it too put us away
Now I'm all alone in the rain
()
You said, baby... oh...
(Bridge)
Times passed
Still remained
I'll learn to let love go
I'll make it
Find some song
Love, it's gone…
(/Vamp Out)
In this song, Mona Lisa is expressing her feelings towards someone who broke their promise of never leaving her. The repetition of the line "You said you'd never leave me" emphasizes the fact that the promise was made repeatedly and that she believed it. However, she now realizes that she shouldn't have given him her heart and let him into her life, soul, and mind. Her trust was shattered, and she never thought they would end up in such a way. She is deeply hurt by the fact that they couldn't communicate and work things out, leading to the end of their relationship. Mona Lisa is feeling betrayed and abandoned, and she is left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart on her own.
The second verse shows that Mona Lisa had hope that they could still be friends if their love ended. However, she quickly realizes that the person took advantage of her and left her heartbroken. She is left to mend her heart and pick up the pieces of her life alone. The song ends with Mona Lisa reflecting on the fact that love is gone and she needs to let it go. She acknowledges that it will take time, but she will make it through.
