Got My Hand In Your Head
Money Mark Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One two, one two three four

You could be my best friend
Sitting on the book ends
Look guy, you're just a king
You know you're missing something

I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head

I've read about you in books
Your kingdom's always full
And if you did know the truth
You wouldn't promise to tell

I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
And I'm pulling out all of your mind

I waited for you to say
All the things that you think
And now that we're here alone
You can remember to blink

I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
And I'm pulling out all of your mind

You could be my best friend
Sitting on the book ends
Look guy, you're just a king
You know you're missing something

I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
I've got my hand in your head
And I'm pulling out all of your mind

And I'm pulling out all of your mind
And I'm pulling out all of your mind

And I'm pulling out all of your mind
And I'm pulling out all of your mind

Overall Meaning

The song "Hand in Your Head" by Money Mark is a catchy tune with a sardonic message about manipulation and control. At first glance, the lyrics seem to describe a funny scenario in which the singer is pulling out the thoughts from someone's mind. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that the song is about the power dynamics in relationships, where one person holds more control than the other.

The phrase "I've got my hand in your head" is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the idea that the singer is manipulating the other person by controlling their thoughts. The line "You could be my best friend, sitting on the bookends" suggests that the person being manipulated is someone the singer is close to, but still has the upper hand. The line "And if you did know the truth, you wouldn't promise to tell" implies that the singer knows something about the other person that they don't want others to know, giving the singer even more power.

Overall, "Hand in Your Head" is a commentary on the dangers of manipulation and control in relationships. It emphasises the importance of being aware of power dynamics and not allowing oneself to be controlled by others.

When I first heard this in 1998 it hit me immediately! Played the CD over and over and over again. Just thought about it while listening to other great tunes from the 1990’s. Couldn’t remember his name. Thank god Indis. As good as ever. It will be on replay once again. Such good memories of simpler times walking around NYC with my Sony Walkman blasting. ❤️👏🙏
