1) Mono are a post-rock band from Tokyo, Japan formed in 1999. The songs, all of which are instrumental (their only song featuring vocals is off Rays of Darkness entitled 'The Hand that Holds the Truth' which has guest harsh vocals by Envy's vocalist), are usually focused on layered guitar melodies both epic and heavy in nature built around quieter delicate clean guitar melodies. Post-rock-styled tremolo picking can also be prominently found as well as the frequent use of strings and pianos that is featured in some songs. Mono are known for their powerful live shows, hard-hitting drumming and their complex wall of sound guitar work.
Their first EP, titled Hey, you was released in September, 2000. So far, they have released eleven full albums: Under The Pipal Tree, One Step More And You Die, Walking cloud and deep red sky, Flag fluttered and the sun shined, You Are There, Hymn To The Immortal Wind, For my parents , the double album Rays of Darkness/The Last Dawn, Requiem for Hell, Nowhere Now Here and Pilgrimage of the Soul.
They also have several other records; including a remix album, a collaborative split record with Pelican, another split with The Ocean, an album collaborating with World's end girlfriend, an EP entitled The Phoenix Tree, another EP entitled Memorie dal Futuro, several singles, a compilation, a DVD, a soundtrack and a string of live albums/EPs.

This is such a fantastic song and video. Following the map usually means moving forward, but the vid's actually going back in time -- the guy starts as a young adult but he keeps going against the flow of time to happier times, which is why we see him getting younger as the vid goes on. The snowball he keeps in his pocket is a memory he holds dear (snowballs are fragile and wane with time, which is why I think they choose it, it's a parallel to human memory). Memory of when he was a kid and could be sincere with the world and he didn't need to wear the mask we show to other people which we pick up as we get older. Childhood friends and love is a theme that shows up in Japanese art very often as well and that's what the girl's supposed to symbolize. Another nice detail's when the camera has difficulties focusing on the forest the guy comes from in the end of the video. The way I see it it's supposed to show how we couldn't imagine our future when we were kids, maybe we were too hopeful back then.

He uses the rock to complete the circle of rocks you see near the very end of the video. You’ll also notice during the man’s trek through the snow, there are footprints already made ahead of him (which allows us to conclude that the girl we see made the same exact journey through the forest before the man)—the trail of the girl’s foot steps is the “map” he’s following. Most likely, the interpretation is suppose to be about a man whose lover has died before him, and now the man is dead, and is meeting up with her at the spot where they first met to go into the afterlife together.

MONO❤ I had the luck to see them live in 2008 and bought a tshirt with "Are you there'' written on it I lost it during the concert I still feel bad about it but made at least someone happy😅

Truthfully, I thought it was a GPS tracker or a phone. In fact, I am still not convinced that it isn't. I know, it would ruin the romance to some extent...
What we can probably agree on is that the music is beautiful and haunting, and that the video fits it very well. I love how there is so much symbolism going on in this video and that there are so many ways to interpret it. :)
