Jordan attended Pepperdine University in California to pick up a bachelor's degree in communications, graduating summa cum laude and was a state finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship.
Jordan's first single was the 1995 #1 hit single "This Is How We Do It", and defined his hip hop soul musical style. "This Is How We Do It" and its follow-up, "Somethin' 4 Da Honeyz", show a strong hip hop influence, and Jordan's material fit alongside the rest of Def Jam's output. Future hits would include "Let's Ride" with Master P in 1998 and "Get It on Tonite" in late-1999.
Besides crafting his own material, Jordan has written and produced for a number of outside artists, including Christina Milian, 98 Degrees, Deborah Cox ("Nobody's Supposed to Be Here", 1998), and SisqΓ³ (the number-one hit "Incomplete", 2000). The singer has had cameo roles in the films "The Fighting Temptations" and "The Nutty Professor."
Jordan left Def Soul in 2003 and released the album "Life After Def" on Koch Records.
Jordan released his 7th project - "Let It Rain" - on October 21, 2008.
In 2010, Jordan left the music business to become a minister. As he explained on his Twitter feed, the decision is "a calling thatβs probably been with me all my life since I was a child. And Iβve known it. A lot of people in the business know it and have the same calling but that leap of faith is difficult."
Do You Remember
Montell Jordan Lyrics

What do you do
When I'm not there
Question been on my mind
Letting you know I'm coming
But before I get there
Tell me do you
Do you play the music low
Do you touch yourself
Pretending that you're me
Do you think of me
With toys and things inside you
Do you wish your hands
Were my hand
Making you scream
Oh baby
Do you
Do you think of me
Do you wish I was there
Killing you softly
Do you
Do you
Do you
Do you still close your eyes
Every night and fantasize
Baby tell me
Do you
Do you lick your lips
Remembering how it tasted
Do you miss the tender
Kisses down below
Do your fingers do the walking
When you hear our favorite
Song again
I want to know
How do you please yourself
When you're all alone
Chorus 2X
Tell me what do you do
When I'm not there
Do you massage your own body
Do you wash your own hair
Do you caress your own thighs
Do you
The lyrics of Montell Jordan's song Do You are about a man asking his partner what she does when he's not around. He wants to know if she fantasizes about him and if she pleasures herself while thinking about him. The first verse asks several questions about how she prepares for his arrival. Does she light candles and play music? Does she touch herself, imagining it is him? Does she wish it was him making her scream?
The second verse delves further into her fantasies, asking if she still remembers how he tasted and if she misses the kisses he used to give her. He wants to know if she thinks of him while listening to their favorite song and if she still fantasizes about him every night.
Overall, the song is about the desire to be wanted and desired by a partner. It acknowledges that people have sexual desires and fantasies that may not always be acted upon with a partner. The man in the song wants to be a part of his partner's intimate thoughts and experiences, even when he's not physically present.
