Although best known for her bel canto roles, Caballé eventually sang over eighty operatic roles, from baroque opera to Verdi, Wagner, and Puccini, including the Marschallin in Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier and the title role in Salome.
Caballé is also a noted recitalist, particularly of songs of her native Spain.
Her voice is noted for its purity, precise control, and power. She is admired less for her dramatic instincts and acting skills than for her superb technique, vocal shadings, and exquisite pianissimos.
The result of one of her brief excursions to the world of pop music, Caballé's duet with rock singer Freddie Mercury, Barcelona , was a hit single in 1987, accompanied by an album of the same name. The title track later became the anthem of the 1992 Summer Olympics which was hosted by the city, and appeared again in the pop music charts throughout Europe. Caballé also performed the song live, accompanied by a recording of the deceased Mercury, before the 1999 UEFA Champions League football final in Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium.
Caballé has dedicated herself to various charities. She is a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and she has established a foundation for needy children in Barcelona.
Caballé does not appear to have retired from the stage. She continues to assume new roles: in 2002, Catherine of Aragon in Saint-Saëns' Henri VIII; in 2004, the title role in Massenet's Cléopâtre, both at the Liceu. At the age of 73 (2006), she still maintains a busy schedule of recitals and concerts, mainly in Germany. And she is due to appear as The Duchess of Crackentorp in La fille du régiment at the Vienna State Opera in 2007.

Dee dee dee dee dee ooh oh
Who will find me
Take care and side with me
Dee dee dee dee dee dee dee
Where has all our loving gone
Who will find me
Guide me back
Safely to my home
Where I belong
Once more
Who will find me
Take care and side with me
Guide me back
Safely to my home
Where I belong
Once more (oooooooh)
In Montserrat Caballe's song "Guide Me Home," the lyrics suggest a sense of loss and longing for someone to come back to. The first few lines "Now my heart begins to bleed" followed by "Who will find me" express a deep feeling of being alone and searching for someone to accompany and support the singer. The repetition of "Dee dee dee dee dee ooh oh" and "Dee dee dee dee dee dee dee" adds to the emotional depth of the song, emphasizing the pain and searching the singer is going through.
The second verse "Where has all our loving gone, who will find me, come and stand beside me" reveals a nostalgia for a love that has faded away. The plea for someone to take care, side with them, and guide them back home gives the sense of a lack of direction and insecurity. The repetition of the phrase "Guide me back, safely to my home, where I belong, once more" in the chorus emphasizes the longing for someone to lead them back to a place of comfort, security, and belonging.
Overall, the lyrics of "Guide Me Home" explore the idea of feeling lost and alone and searching for someone to guide them back to a place of comfort and belonging. The repetition and emotional depth in the lyrics create a powerful sense of longing and nostalgia.

Indeed. I would have expected that this song would have more views than some of the other uploads, such as Overture Piccante. Anyways, it's still a brilliant album altogether. . .

Thanks for posting the original release. I'm so tired of having to listen to the modern incarnation, as it was re-orchestrated in a way I do not like.
