Love Gone Bad

You know I'd give a lot for what you think we've got
Oh, oh, oh no
Love gone bad, love gone bad
Love gone bad, love gone bad
Love gone bad
Baby you're so proud I'm in your pocket now
Oh, oh, oh no
Love gone bad, love gone bad
Love gone bad, love gone bad
Love gone bad
I made the night
Lonely and dark, shot thru the heart.
Oh, oh, oh no
Love gone bad, love gone bad
Love gone bad, love gone bad
Love gone bad
The lyrics to Moon Martin’s song Love Gone Bad narrate the story of a person who finds themselves alone in a room, reading a letter that is presumed to be from their loved one. The letter may have been the final nail in the coffin for the person’s relationship as the writer of the letter has likely ended it. Despite the somber news, the recipient of the letter reveals that they would do almost anything to preserve the relationship, regardless of how the other party feels. The second verse goes on to describe the lover as “so proud” and someone who has puffed up the recipient of the letter's sense of worth. But, in reality, the relationship between the two was already doomed. The recipient of the letter laments that they’re “lonely and dark, shot through the heart.”
Overall, the lyrics paint a picture of a person who has been struck by heartbreak but is still clinging onto the remnants of a dying relationship. This song is a perfect example of how, at times, love can misguide people and lead them down a path of pain and heartache, leaving them with nothing but love gone bad.
