I Am
Moon of Steel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What I am
I would be if I could
I've a soul
Try to shout my own prayer

But I cry without a voice and tears
You can't choose what I'll be...
...I am

Who needs it, what is the use?
You win the prize paying with my life

What I am
I would be if I could
Studying me like a mouse, labyrinths
In which simple people get lost
I recall my own prayer

You cannot hear what I feel and what I am

Choose my fate like a colour TV
Choose for me how long my life will be
And destroy a created entity,
It ends here, you forget the reason

You cannot hear what I feel and hear
Hear what I'm screaming,
It's already completed

I am - I want to leave this now
I am - not a shadow
I am - I want to feel the grace
I am - and what I want to be

What I have:
I feel the pain around me
And it's here
And the heart of the world
Beating pain
Laughing, crying its disgrace again
And we pray together

You cannot hear what I feel and hear
Hear what I'm screaming,
It's already completed

I am - I want to leave this now
I am - not a shadow

I am - I want to feel the grace
I am - and what I want to be

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Moon of Steel's song "I Am" speak to the struggle of individuality and the desire to be heard and understood. The singer asserts their identity and desires, stating that they would be who they truly are if they could. They have a soul and attempt to vocalize their prayers, but feel unheard and unseen. The use of metaphorical language, such as studying them like a mouse in a labyrinth, adds to a feeling of being trapped and lost. The singer also takes issue with others choosing their fate, likening it to choosing a color on a television set, and ultimately destroying what was created.

The repeated refrain of "You cannot hear what I feel and hear, Hear what I'm screaming, It's already completed" is a powerful statement on the frustration of feeling unseen and unheard. Despite the singer's attempts to vocalize their thoughts and feelings, they feel trapped and ignored. The final verse expresses a sense of pain and despair as the singer observes the world around them, with the heart of the world "beating pain." However, they also find solace in the idea of praying together.

Capolavoro del metal firmato made in Italy! Immensi!

"Progressive Power Metal"...... obviously influenced by "Transcendence" album by Crimson Glory

@DanGuitar66

Gran bel disco e ottimi musicisti!
