Think Back
Moonchild Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don′t know why I feel this way,
It's been a couple months in the making
But there ain′t no escaping
The doubt scratching at my heart

And though I know that I don't wanna have to call you up
And meet you at some coffee shop
Just to find out how you been
Lately I've been wondering

It′s just a phase, it′s just a phase
I pray it's just a phase

Think back
Think back

Back when we were making lists of things we′ve never done,
Living them one by one
Everything so new together
Even the weather

Coming through with all the little things I like,
I don't remember even telling you
You make me wanna be so good
That you don′t leave me even if you should

It's just a phase, it′s just a phase
I pray it's just a phase

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Moonchild's song "Think Back" suggests the internal conflict of the singer with the memories of the past. The song opens with the singer confessing their confusion about the emotion they are experiencing. The lyrics mention that it has been a couple of months, indicating the singer's inability to shake off their feelings even after such a long time has passed. The subsequent lines of the verse express the singer's attempt to evade their thoughts, though it proves to be futile as doubt continues to gnaw at their heart. The verse then transitions into the chorus which acts as a plea or a hopeful statement that what they are feeling is just temporary.

The second verse takes the listener on a journey through the memories of the singer. It mentions how they used to make a list of things they've never done before and experiencing them together. The lines suggest the joy that the singer felt while experiencing these new things. The singer then confesses to having particular preferences that the other person fulfills even without explicitly stating them. The verse ends with the singer being thankful for the person's presence in their life and confesses that they want to be good enough for the person to stay with them.

Overall, the lyrics of the song "Think Back" suggest the internal conflict of the singer with their past and their attempts to shake off their emotions. I just want an extended loop of that bassline at the end. A whole cd of that would be magic
