1) Moose were a British indie rock band who formed in London in 1990. While tagged as the original shoegazer band, and certainly their earliest singles were, they evolved into something distinctly their own - a woozy, lush and orchestral brand of pop.
Moose released two EPs on Hut Records. Within the next few years the band would release two more full-length albums on Play It Again Sam. Despite a strong critical response, Moose’s albums continued to sell few copies. Following the release of their third album, Live a Little Love a Lot, Moose took an extended break from music only to return five years later with the release of High Ball Me! in 2000. The band broke up soon after.

There has to be a meaning
I hold you close everytime
You ask me for a reason
Your best friend couldn't find the words
I know you would confuse them
Hope to find it, hope to find it
I'm singing it wrong
It's our song
I'm singing it wrong
I am drunk, I'm an hero
I am one, I found love
Pushed my eyes inside my head
I needed them this morning
I smelt the afternoon instead
By sundown it was falling
The drooling makes me look a fool
I can't believe we're talking
I hope to find you, hope to find you
In my song
I'm singing it wrong
It's our song
I'm singing it wrong
Hope to find it, hope to find it
In my song
I'm singing it wrong
In my song
I'm singing it wrong
It's my song
I'm singing it wrong
It's our song
I'm singing it wrong
"Polly" by Moose is a reflective song about a romantic relationship, in which the singer is struggling to find a way to express their love to their partner. The lyrics are introspective, with the singer revealing their vulnerability, and how much they desire to find a way to express their feelings clearly. The opening lines of the song "Hope to find it soon my love, there has to be a meaning," convey the singer's longing for clarity about the relationship, and how meaningful it is. They want to find the right words to express how important their love is, but they cannot seem to find them.
The second verse suggests that the singer is perhaps struggling with substance abuse or addiction, as they sing "I am drunk, I'm a hero, I am one, I found love." The line "Pushed my eyes inside my head, I needed them this morning," hints at the possibility that the singer was intoxicated at night, which made them not wake up until the afternoon. The singer's disorientation is apparent in the line "I smelt the afternoon instead, by sundown it was falling," suggesting that they are having trouble keeping track of time. The last lines of the song "It's my song, I'm singing it wrong, it's our song, I'm singing it wrong" seem to indicate that the singer knows that what they are trying to communicate is important to both them and their partner, but they are still unable to express it correctly.

on Love on the Dole
DID MY BEST TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HE'S SAYING, LOVE THIS SONG
-----I am now come dancing in?
??? to chase our shadows through the rain
Love on the dole
Choose/(chew?) your soul
Curses come to frost above the wave/way
I'm gonna wave that train away and smile
'Cause it didn't travel farther than 20 miles
Love on the dole
Choose/chew your soul
Couldn't let you see me single file???/signify
Oh wo
When daylight glows/slows don't say that I'm sold x2
Never ??? thought about your mother's death
It's cool she put a price upon my head
Never ago, to choose/chew my soul
??? never makes me happy that you ???
Oh wo
When daylight glows/slows don't say that I'm sold x3-----
