God of the Forsaken
Morbid Angel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've seen visions awakening
Drawing timeless life to an end
I've felt forces pulling me
And I have rejoiced in them

I've heard voices calling names
I have reveled in their beckoning
For the voices that summon me
Have grown immense

My senses keen with desire and pain
Senses heightened by my need to see
To feed the hunger that I feel inside
Awake my soul to ecstasy

My father the forsaken
The king of blasphemy
They cower at your name
They live in ignorance
They hide behind a doctrine
That has taught them only lies
Now let them see
Thy world, immaculate

I've seen visions awakening
Drawing timeless life to an end
I've felt forces pulling me
And I have rejoiced in them

I've heard voices calling my name
I have waited for their beckoning

For the voices that summon me
Bring the gift of bliss

Overall Meaning

In Morbid Angel's song "God of the Forsaken," the singer describes their experiences with dark, powerful forces that they take pleasure in being drawn towards. They've seen visions and heard voices that call to them, and they relish in the pull towards the end of timeless life. The singer's senses are heightened by their need for more, feeding their hunger for ecstasy. The singer acknowledges their father, the forsaken king of blasphemy, and the fear and ignorance that surrounds his name. The singer longs to reveal the truth of their father's world, one of immaculate power, to those who have been taught only lies.

The lyrics convey a sense of otherness and forbidden pleasure, as if the singer is reveling in something that is meant to be hidden or taboo. The references to "bliss" and "ecstasy" allude to a connection between the singer and the dark forces they have encountered. The idea of the "God of the Forsaken" suggests a being who has been abandoned, left to rule over what is discarded or shunned, and yet the singer's reverence for their father suggests a level of power and importance that is beyond what others can comprehend. The mention of "timeless life" also hints at a kind of eternal existence that is both fascinating and terrifying.

Overall, the song seems to tap into a desire for something beyond the mundane, beyond the limits of what is socially or morally acceptable. The singer's willingness to embrace the darkness and revel in the forbidden suggests a longing for a kind of power or knowledge that is hidden from the mainstream.

You can kinda tell the difference between the song writers. Trey is usually blazing fast or slow and doom like, usually able to grasp the concept of the song and has ripping solos. Eric makes abominations (I mean that in a good way) of chaos and uncontrollable songs that are heavy, but when that solo kicks in it’s super emotional, and you can feel every part of it.

Gabriel Roberto Caixeta

Truth! The cool thing about Rutan is that he writes some chaotic stuff, some riffs divided into 17/5 times (joking). However, if we listen carefully, we can hear everything he is doing. To exemplify, see his work on Krisiun's Conquerors of Armageddon, simply sensational, the guy has a good hand for production and creativity.

Head Splitter

Lee Torry Trey prefers bizzare scales and he often produces sounds that are so strange and good at the same time..For me each one of them is a beast. Cheers.
