Everybody's high on consolation
Everybody's trying to tell me what is right for me
My daddy tried to bore me with a sermon
But it's plain to see that they can't comfort me
Sorry Charlie for the imposition
I think I got it got it, I think I found the strength to carry on
Now it's up to me, what will be?
She's Gone
Oh why? Oh why?
I better learn how to face it
She's Gone
Oh why? Oh why?
I'd pay the devil to replace her
She's Gone
What went wrong?
Get up in the morning and I look in the mirror
There's one less toothbrush hanging in the stand
My face ain't looking any younger
Now I can see love's taken it's toll on me
She's Gone
Oh why? Oh why?
I better learn how to face it
She's Gone
Oh why? Oh why?
I'd pay the devil to replace her
She's Gone
What went wrong?
Think I'll spend eternity in the city
Let the carbon and monoxide choke my thoughts away
And pretty bodies will dissolve the memories
But they can never be what she was to me
She's Gone gone gone gone
Oh Oh why?
Oh why? Oh why?
I better learn how to face it
She's Gone
Oh why? Oh why?
I'd pay the devil to replace her
She's Gone
Oh what went wrong?
She's Gone
What went wrong?
She's Gone
What went wrong?
The lyrics of Morgan James's song "She's Gone" describe the painful aftermath of a relationship that has ended. The song's protagonist is struggling to cope with the loss of his lover, and is faced with the realization that he must find the strength to move on. He is being bombarded by advice and opinions from everybody around him, but nobody can provide the comfort he needs. He acknowledges that he has to face the situation alone, and that he needs to make a decision about what his future will hold.
The lyrics are full of emotion, as the singer expresses his frustration, regret and longing. He looks in the mirror and sees the toll that love has taken on him, and he is left wondering what went wrong. He thinks about how he might escape his pain, but ultimately he knows that nothing will ever replace the woman he has lost.
The song's somber tone is underscored by the repeated refrain "She's Gone", which drives home the singer's sense of loss and desolation. The lyrics are a poignant reminder that sometimes love doesn't work out, and that moving on can be an incredibly difficult process.
