The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is made up of some 360 men and women, all of whom are volunteers. There are many husband-wife combinations and many families have participated in the choir for generations. Choir members are currently limited to twenty years of participation, allowing new members to join the choir on a regular basis.
The choir was founded in August 1847, one month after the Mormon Pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley. The choir is completely self-funded, traveling and producing albums to support their organization. Choir members are not paid for their participation or performances.
Although the choir has traditionally been recognized for its sound quality, the most recent director, Craig Jessop, a student of Robert Shaw, has made changes designed to improve the overall quality of the choir. Jessop's efforts to add vitality to the choir's sound include the formation of The Orchestra at Temple Square, the 2005 addition of The Bells on Temple Square (a hand bell choir), and continual refinement of the choir's tone, enunciation, and repetoire. The minimum age for participation has been reduced from 30 to 25. In addition, new choir members participate in The Temple Square Chorale training choir, a combination music theory/performance school led by associate director and composer/arranger Mack Wilberg.
Where Is Love?
Mormon Tabernacle Choir Lyrics

Daylight in your smile
Darkness when I'm not with you
Moonlight in the skies
Moonlight feels so nice
Darkness what am I without you?
Let me just hold you so love can't escape
Don't worry I just want to know
The lyrics of the song "Where Is Love?" by Mormon Tabernacle Choir depict the feeling of longing and incompleteness that one feels in the absence of their loved one. The opening lines of the song create a beautiful imagery of daylight in the eyes and smile of the loved one, which bring brightness to the world. However, without them, it feels like darkness has descended upon the world. The following lines talk about the presence of moonlight in the skies, which may seem pleasant but cannot replace the warmth that the loved one brings. The artist expresses their desire to hold onto their love tightly so that it cannot escape, and they worry about being incomplete without them.
The song portrays the idea of love being the light that brightens up one's world, and its absence can create a void that cannot be filled by anything else. The lyrics are poignant and evoke powerful emotions of love and longing, which resonate with many people who have experienced similar feelings.

1. Where love is, there God is also.
Where love is, we want to be.
Guide us, his truths to follow;
Help us obey him faithfully.
2. Where love is, there God is also.
We think of him rev’rently.
Teach us to pray, to talk with him above
And know that he will guide us with his love.
3. Where love is, there God is also.
And with him we want to be.
Show us the way and guide us tenderly
That we may dwell with him eternally.

I am not a practicing church member; my parents were expelled the year before I was to be confirmed by baptismal certificate. --- ~35 years later; This song still plays in my mind whenever I find myself out of sorts within (t)His realm.

Thanks for your comment. The Savior knows your story better than anyone. He invites all to come closer to Him to find peace. Missionaries can help answer your questions, teach you more about Jesus Christ, and help you understand how to prepare for baptism to join the Church, if you're interested in that.
