While "Good" earned the band critical notoriety and substantial underground cred, they did not -- with this release or any subsequent -- break into the mainstream. After the release of Good, the band replaced Dupree with Billy Conway, a former bandmate of Sandman. Morphine's 1992 release of Cure for Pain, promoted by heavy touring, received some mainstream positive attention, selling over 300,000 copies worldwide and spawning a chart hit in many countries with the single Buena
Subsequent releases include Yes and Like Swimming.
On July 3, 1999, Mark Sandman collapsed on stage in Palestrina, Italy, a suburb of Rome. He was pronounced dead of a heart attack at the scene. He was 46. Morphine released The Night -- arguably their best effort -- posthumously in 2000.
After Sandman's death, the remaining band members reformed and continued to record as Twinemen and later as The Ever Expanding Elastic Waste Band
In 2004, the Mark Sandman box set Sandbox was released by Hi-n-Dry, Mark Sandman's own label. It contains two CDs and a DVD of previously unreleased material spanning Sandman’s musical career. The DVD features clips from early Sandman shows, interviews from the Morphine tours, and various videos from other Sandman solo and group projects, such as Treat Her Right.

Nothing's going to bring me down
Nothing's going to shake me
Nothings going to make me change
That's the way I am and I'll always be the same
Yea oh
Nothings going to shake me
Nothings going to make me change
And it's 1 2 3 4 everybody out the door
Let's go everyone everbody's got a gun
1 2 3 today is so easy
It's just a little bit of that simple simplicity ow
Everything is shimmering
(1 2 3 4 everybody out the door)
Let's go ? fast
(let's go everyone everybody's got a gun)
And everything that happened to me
(1 2 3 today is so easy)
Happened to me for the best
(it's just a little bit of that simple simplicity)
Ow
I got an action packed extravaganta
I got a sweet haiku
I got the cash to cover the action
I got the soul food
There's a flag I wanna fly
A mountain that I put in time
I was always on my way
Nothing's going to shake me
Nothing's going to make me change
That's the way I am and I'll always be the same
Mile high (x6)
The lyrics to Morphine's song "Mile High" convey a sense of self-assurance and determination. The repeated phrases "nothing's going to shake me" and "nothing's going to make me change" suggest a steadfastness of character that is unflappable in the face of challenge or adversity. The repetition of these lines reinforces this message and serves to drive it home.
The subsequent lines, which speak of everyone having a gun and the urgency to leave, suggest a certain chaos or danger in the world, but the singer remains undaunted. They have an "action packed extravaganta" and "cash to cover the action," which suggests they are well-prepared for whatever may come their way. The line "everything that happened to me happened to me for the best" further reinforces this sense of optimism and resilience, suggesting that even negative experiences have ultimately led to positive outcomes.
In the final section of the song, the singer speaks of a "flag I wanna fly" and a "mountain that I put in time," suggesting that they have goals and aspirations that they continue to work towards. The repeated phrase "Mile High" may be a reference to these aspirations, suggesting that the singer is striving for something greater, something beyond what they have accomplished thus far.
