While "Good" earned the band critical notoriety and substantial underground cred, they did not -- with this release or any subsequent -- break into the mainstream. After the release of Good, the band replaced Dupree with Billy Conway, a former bandmate of Sandman. Morphine's 1992 release of Cure for Pain, promoted by heavy touring, received some mainstream positive attention, selling over 300,000 copies worldwide and spawning a chart hit in many countries with the single Buena
Subsequent releases include Yes and Like Swimming.
On July 3, 1999, Mark Sandman collapsed on stage in Palestrina, Italy, a suburb of Rome. He was pronounced dead of a heart attack at the scene. He was 46. Morphine released The Night -- arguably their best effort -- posthumously in 2000.
After Sandman's death, the remaining band members reformed and continued to record as Twinemen and later as The Ever Expanding Elastic Waste Band
In 2004, the Mark Sandman box set Sandbox was released by Hi-n-Dry, Mark Sandman's own label. It contains two CDs and a DVD of previously unreleased material spanning Sandman’s musical career. The DVD features clips from early Sandman shows, interviews from the Morphine tours, and various videos from other Sandman solo and group projects, such as Treat Her Right.

And that's the day I throw my drugs away" - Mark Sandman

I know my way around.
Everybody knows me,
I grew up in this town.
I got one million,
Two million,
I can't remember how many million,
And I'm exactly where I want to be right now,
Ohh yeah.
Mhmm.
I got a callback from the wishing well.
Ohh yeah.
Alll right.
I got a callback from the wishing well.
I don't even have to shoot,
Don't even have to aim,
I just smile, deal me in.
I got one million,
Two million, uh-huh,
I can't remember how many million,
Millions, I tell ya.
I'm exactly where I want to be right now,
Alll right.
Ohh-kay.
I got a callback from the wishing well.
Oh!
I move smooth, underwater.
Crisp like a waterfall.
Smooth, underwater.
I know my way around.
See, I got one million,
Two million,
I can't remember how many million,
Millions.
And I'm exactly where I want to be right now,
Alll right.
Alll right.
I got a callback from the wishing well.
Awwh yeah.
Ohhh!
I got a callback from the wishing well.
The song "Wishing Well" by Morphine is a representation of the singer's current state of being. The lyrics are about how the character has achieved wealth and success in life, and he is content with where he is. He moves smooth and underwater, metaphorically representing how he can navigate his way through life with ease. The singer's success is indicated by the number of millions he has, which he can't even keep track of, indicating how much money he has.
The chorus "I got a callback from the wishing well" refers to how the singer feels as if the universe has granted his every wish. He doesn't even have to work for his success; it just comes naturally to him. The singer is content with his life, which is reinforced by the refrain, "I'm exactly where I want to be right now."
The song's tone is laid-back and relaxed, which emphasises how the singer feels about his achievements. It's almost as if the singer is humblebragging about his success. The song's instrumental qualities are similar to other songs by Morphine, with the use of a saxophone and a slide bass guitar.
