crescendo is getting louder whereas the former is getting quieter.

@Talade mmm no, even though your defintion is correct what they meant is also correct, the choir literally did a crescendo (their volume went higher) to silence (after that high volume they shushed for a second)

I love this version the best because you're able to "feel" the wheel rotating instead of just focusing on the choral. The careful tempo leads you into the clearer picture of wheel of fortune spinning, depicting the rise and fall of human's fates, and towards the end when the whole pace picks up with the trumpets, making it sound like celebration but it actually is just the wheel of fortune spinning merrily and unendingly regardless of who is on it nevertheless, rendering the lives on it helpless. Very well interpreted and delivered instead of only focusing on delivering just the plain grandeur of the piece.

Not really...the choir is missing the latin syllabuses and diphthongs, therefore the pronunciation sounds "obdurat". As a native latin language speaker (Roumanian) I can sense when the words are breaking uneven. Beautiful performance and definitely Carl Orff would be proud to hear how many ppl are listening to his creation.

This was the first piece (well, the whole song cycle...) i sang with the Dalhousie University choir in 1974: a completely unforgettable experience and one i will cherish forever. One of the best choral masterpieces of the 20th century!!

I directed the lighting on the stage and the space around the open air theater in the Olympic Park at the 1972 Munich Olympics when the Carmina Burana was being performed in the presence of Carl Orff. It was one of the most memorable events in my young life and the sound of the choral harmonies still echo with me. The sound and the harminies travelled for miles and the spirit of the singers flew with the sound over the town and the Olympic Hill behind us.
But the biggest heart break came just right after the end of the performance when the attack on the Jewish athletes started and the Olympic Games descended into terror and sadness.

Another middle of the night find for me. I was privileged to be part of massed choirs of adults and schoolchildren who sang this in the Hertfordshire Schools Gala in 2014. The adult choirs were un-auditioned community choirs and we were led by the amazing Rufus Frowde. What an experience! I'm shivering as I write this..

This was so much fun to be a part of. I sang it on two occasions as a tenor in the symphony chorus. We had plenty of time to study the translations into English. Very risqué and suggestive.

I was fortunate enough to be in an independent play in highschool where essentially I played the devil on the main character's shoulder. There was a scene where there was a physical confrontation that the director decided to use this piece for. It was so easy to get amped. The lead accidentally hit me in the face the opening night, and I accidentally hit him in the face the closing night (on accident, not retaliation).
